திர்வள்ளுவர் எழுதிய திருக்குறளில் மநுவின் கருத்துக்களும் உவமைகளும் அப்படியே
இருப்பது பற்றி சுட்டிக்காட்டி வந்துள்ளனர். இமயம் முதல் குமரி வரை பாரதீய சிந்தனை
ஒன்றே
என்பதை இது காட்டுகிறது. யாரும் யாரையும் காப்பி அடிக்கவில்லாஇ; இன்னும் ஆழமாகப் போனால் மஹாபாரதத்திலும் இக்கருத்துக்கள் இருப்பதைக் காணலாம். ஆனால் அதுவோ மஹாசமுத்திரம் ஒரு லட்சம் ஸ்லோகங்கள்; இரண்டு லட்சம் வரிகள்; பத்து லட்சம் சொற்கள். யாரே அதன் கரை காண்பார்?

ஸ்மிருதியின் ஒன்பதாவது அத்தியாயத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து காண்போம். முந்தைய பகுதியில் 9-220 வரை கண்டோம். இதோ தொடர்ச்சி. முதலில்
புல்லட் பாயிண்ட்ஸ்- ரத்தினச் சுருக்கம்—
வள்ளுவர், நாற்பது குறட்பாக்களில் நாலு அதிகாரங்களில் (சூது, கள்ளூண்ணாமை, கயமை, ஒற்றாடல் ) சொன்ன விஷயங்களை இந்த ஸ்லோகங்களில் மநுவும் குறிப்பிடுகிறார் . அந்த தீமைகளை கண்டிக்கிறார். அதாவது வள்ளுவரும் மநுவும் ஒரே கருத்தைச் சொல்கின்றனர். மநுவில் இடையிடையே ஜாதிகள் பற்றி வரும். வள்ளுவத்தில் அது இல்லை. காரணம்?
