In Hindu Puranas Seven is the most sacred number. All the sacred objects and saints and gods are grouped in Sevens; We find Seven Sacred Rivers, Seven Sacred Forests, Seven Sacred Towns, Seven Sacred Hills , Seven Sacred Immortals etc. In Indus valley Number 7 and Number 3 are seen more than other numbers. First let us look at the significance Number Seven in other cultures and compare it with Hindu culture:-
Seven Days of the Week Sunday To Saturday
Even the Tamil saint Thirugnana Sambandar sang the seven days in the same order 1400 years ago. (see Kolaaru Tiruppathikam in Thevaram). In Sanskrit

Tuesday – Mangalvaar or Paumavaar

Apart from sun, moon and Saturn all other days were named after Norse Gods in Western countries. But Hindus used the planets names.
In the Puranic geography earth was divided into Seven Dvipas or Islands
Jambudvipa, Plakshadvipa, Kusadvipa, Kraunchadvipa, Sagaradvipa,
Salmalidvipa, Pushkaradvipa.

அதிசயப் பெண்மணி நினா குலாஜினா
அதீத உளவியல் ஆற்றல் பெற்ற அதிசயமான ஆண், பெண் பட்டியலில் நினா குலாஜினாவின் (Nina Kulagina) பெயர் தனி இடம் பெறுகிறது.ரஷியப் பெண்மணியான நினா (பிறப்பு 30-7-1926 மறைவு ஏப்ரல் 1990) அதி மானுட ஆற்றலைக் காட்டி விஞ்ஞானிகளை வியக்க வைத்தவர்.
Psyckokinetic (PK) ஆற்றலில் அவர் வல்லவர் என்பது நிரூபிக்கப்பட, ஆயிரத்தி தொள்ளாயிரத்து அறுபதுகளில் அவரது அதீத உளவியல் ஆற்றல் உலகில் பிரபலமானது.
மேஜை மேலிருக்கும் ஒரு பொருளைத் தொடாமலேயே நகர வைக்கும் சக்தி கொண்டவர் அவர் என்பதை நேரடியாகப் பலரும் பார்த்து வியந்தனர்.
ரஷியாவில் இரண்டு நோபல் பரிசு பெற்ற விஞ்ஞானிகள் உள்ளிட்ட நாற்பது விஞ்ஞானிகள் குலாஜினாவின் சக்தியைச் சோதனை செய்து பார்த்தனர்.
லெனின்கிராட் லாபரட்டரி ஒன்றில் 1970ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 10ஆம் தேதி அவர் மீது விஞ்ஞானிகளால் பல சோதனைகள் நடத்தப்பட்டன.
எதையும் தொடாமலேயே பார்வையினால அவர் பொருள்களை நகர்த்துவது பற்றிய சோதனையால் விஞ்ஞானிகள் வியந்தனர்.
உலோகங்களினால் ஆன பொருள்களையும், உலோகம் அல்லாத பொருள்களையும் அவர் நகர்த்திக் காட்டினார். பல்வேறு வடிவங்கள் மற்றும் அளவுகள் கொண்டவை இவை. காந்தசக்தி கொண்ட பொருள்கள், காந்தசக்தி அற்ற பொருள்கள் என எல்லாவற்றையும் அவரால் நகர்த்த முடிந்தது!
இவற்றின் இடை 380 கிராம் அளவில் இருந்தன.
இந்த அபூர்வ ஆற்றல் உயிர்களில் உள்ள தசை, திசு மற்றும் அங்கங்களின் மீதும் செலுத்தப்பட முடியுமா என்று பார்க்க அவர்கள் மிகுந்த ஆவல் கொண்டனர்.
சோதனைகளை முன்னின்று நடத்தியவர் பிரபல ரஷிய விஞ்ஞானியான செர்ஜியெவ் ( Gennady Sergeyev).
ஒரு தவளையின் இதயம் எடுக்கப்பட்டு உடல் இயக்கவியல் கரைசல் (Physiological solution) ஒன்றில் பத்திரமாக வைக்கப்பட்டது. நினா இருந்த இடத்திலிருந்து தவளையின் இதயம் சுமார் ஒன்றரை மீட்டர் தூரத்தில் இருந்தது.இதயத்துடன் எலக்ட்ரோடுகள் இணைக்கப்பட்டன – சோதனை அனைத்தையும் துல்லியமாக ரிகார்ட் செய்வதற்காக!
இந்த மாதிரி நிலைகளில் தவளையின் இதயம் சுமார் 30 முதல் 40 நிமிடங்கள் வரை இயங்கும். அரிதான சில கேஸ்களில் 90 நிமிடம் இது இயங்கலாம்.
இதய இயக்கம் நின்றவுடன் அதை எலக்ட்ரோ ஸ்டிமுலேஷன் (Electrostimulation) மூலம் மீண்டும் இயங்க வைக்க முடியும்.
நினா தனது சக்தியை தவளையின் இதயம் மீது செலுத்திய 40 விநாடிகளில் அதன் இயக்கம் முற்றிலுமாக நின்றது. மீண்டும் எலக்ட்ரோ ஸ்டிமுலேஷன் (Electrostimulation) மூலம் அதை இயக்க முயன்ற போது அது இயங்கவில்லை!
“நாங்கள் இதயத்தைச் சோதனை செய்த போது அது வெடித்துச் சிறு சிறு துகள்களாக ஆகி இருந்தது. அந்த ஆற்றலின் வேகம் அப்படிப்பட்ட தீவிரத்தன்மை கொண்டதாக இருந்தது” என்று கூறி செர்ஜியெவ் வியந்தார்.
நினாவின் இன்னொரு சக்தியையும் விஞ்ஞானிகள் சோதித்தனர்.
அவர் தன் தீவிர பார்வையை ஒருவர் கையின் மீது செலுத்தியபோது அது முதலில் சற்று சூடானது, பிறகு தோல் இன்னும் அதிக உஷ்ணத்தை அடைந்தது. பின்னர் தோல் எரிந்து தீப்புண் பட்டது போல் ஆனது. ஐந்து நாட்கள் வரை அந்தப் புண்ணின் காயம் தென்பட்டது.
நினா தன் கையின் மீது பார்வையைச் செலுத்த அவரது தோல் சிவப்பானது. பின்னர் ஐந்து அல்லது பத்து நிமிடங்கள் கழித்த பின்னர் அவர் அதை தன் சிகிச்சை தரும் ஆற்றலின் மூலம் ஆறச் செய்த போது அது சாதாரண நிலைக்கு மீண்டது. தனது கைவிரல்களால் அவர் பல வண்ணங்களையும் உணர்ந்து அவற்றை விவரித்தார்.
இது போன்ற ஏராளமான சோதனைகளை லாபரட்டரி கட்டுப்பாடுகளில் அவர் நிகழ்த்திக் காட்டி விஞ்ஞானிகளை அயர வைத்தார்.
ஐஸ் மேன்
நெதர்லாந்தைச் சேர்ந்த விம் ஹாஃப் (Wim Hof – பிறப்பு 20-4-1959) வெறும் காலுடன் தொடர்ந்து பனிக்கட்டியின் மீது நடந்து காட்டும் ஒரு அதிசய மனிதர். அதி வேக இதயத் துடிப்பும் அதிக அட்ரினலின் சுரப்புமே அவரது இந்த ஆற்றலுக்குக் காரணம் என அவரைச் சோதித்த விஞ்ஞானிகள் கருத்துத் தெரிவித்தனர்.
மார்ச் 16ஆம் தேதி 2000-இல் அவர் ஐஸுக்கு அடியில் நீந்தி கின்னஸ் வோர்ல்ட் ரிகார்ட் படைத்தார், 2007 ஜனவரி 26ஆம் தேதி பனியில் 2 மணி 16 நிமிடம் 34 விநாடிகள் வெறும் காலுடன் ஐஸ் மீது நடந்து உலக ரிகார்டை ஏற்படுத்தினார். முழு உடலையும் ஐஸில் மூழ்கடித்து நீண்ட நேரம் ஐஸில் இருந்து 16 முறை ரிகார்டை ஏற்படுத்தினார்.
அவரது இந்த அதிசய ஆற்றல் உலக விஞ்ஞானிகளை வியப்பில் ஆழ்த்தியுள்ளது.
ஒரு சில விநாடிகள் கூட எவரும் ஐஸ் கட்டி மீது தன் முழு உடலையும் பட்டவாறு இருக்க முடியாது. ஆனால் இந்த அதிசய மனிதரோ ஒரு மணி நேரம் 42 நிமிடங்கள் ஐஸுடன் உடலை ஒட்டி இருந்து அனைவரையும் அசத்துகிறார்.
இவரை உலக மக்கள் ஐஸ் மேன் என்று அழைப்பது பொருத்தம் தான்.
இன்னும் சில அதிசய ஆற்றல் படைத்த வல்லுநர்களை அடுத்துப் பார்ப்போம்.
அறிவியல் அறிஞர் வாழ்வில் .. ..
பிரபல விஞ்ஞானி தாமஸ் ஆல்வா எடிஸன் மின் பல்பைக் கண்டுபிடிக்க முயன்ற போது நடத்திய சோதனைகள் அனைவரும் அறிந்த ஒன்று. சுமார் ஆயிரம் முறைகள் சோதனைகளைத் திருப்பித் திருப்பி நடத்தி கடைசியில் அவர் மின்சார பல்பைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதில் வெற்றி பெற்றார். அவரது உதவியாளர்கள் அனைவரும் இந்த வெற்றியால் பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தனர்.
எடிஸன் தனது ஆபீஸ் பையனைக் கூப்பிட்டு அதை சோதனை செய்யுமாறு கூறினார். மிக்க பயத்துடனும் நடுக்கத்துடனும் அதைக் கையில் ஏந்திச் சென்ற அவன் தவறுதலாக அந்த பல்பைக் கீழே போட அது உடைந்தது.
எடிஸன் இதனால் கோபம் கொண்டு தன்னை வேலையை விட்டு நீக்கி விடுவார் என்று பயந்தான் அவன்.
எடிஸன் இன்னொரு பல்பைச் செய்தார். திருப்பி அதே ஆபீஸ் பாயைக் (Office Boy) கூப்பிட்டு அவன் கையில் புதிய பல்பைத் தந்து அதை சோதித்துப் பார்க்குமாறு கூறினார்.
எடிஸனின் உதவியாளர்கள் எதற்காக அதே பையனிடம் பல்பைத் தந்து விஷப்பரிட்சை செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று வியந்தனர். எடிஸனிடமே அதைக் கேட்டனர். அந்தப் பையன் திருப்பி அதைக் கீழே போட்டு விட்டால் என்ன செய்வது என்பதே அவர்களின் கேள்வி.
எடிஸன் பதில் கூறினார் இப்படி: “ புதிய பல்பை 24 மணி நேரத்தில் நான் செய்து விட்டேன். ஒருவேளை அவன் இந்த பல்பையும் கீழே போட்டு உடைத்து விட்டால் இன்னொரு பல்பைச் செய்ய எனக்கு இன்னும் 24 மணி நேரம் தான் ஆகும். ஆனால் இதே வேலையை அவனிடம் நான் கொடுக்கா விட்டால் அவனுக்குத் தன் மீது இருக்கும் நம்பிக்கையே போய்விடும். அந்தத் தன்னம்பிக்கையை அவன் பெறவே முடியாமல் போய்விடும். அப்படி அவன் தன்னம்பிக்கையை இழந்து விடக்கூடாது என்பதற்காகத் தான் அதே வேலையை அவனிடம் கொடுத்தேன். இந்த முறை அவன் சோதனையை முடித்து விட்டால் ஆயுளுக்கும் அவன் தன்னம்பிக்கை குறைவு படாது”
அனைவரும் எடிஸனின் இந்த பதிலைக் கேட்டு அவரைப் பாராட்டினர்.

We were lucky to go to Nerur Sadhasiva Brahmendral’s Jeeva Samadhi, which is 13 kilometres from Karur on 27th March 2019. We went there around 11 am, right at the Puja time. Even the priest who did the Puja told us many people come at wrong time and see the Samadhi though the protective fence around the enclosure. He told us whoever come at Puja time are the lucky ones. About the great saint , I have written in 2013 and 2014; Please see the links below.
Sringeri Acharya and Kanchi Pramacharya have visited this place . Kanchi Paramacharya came to Nerur in 1923 after doing the Thadanga Prathista in Jambukeswara (Thiru Anaikka) Akilandeswari Temple on 29-4-1923.
He stayed in Nerur for a week . Sadhasiva’s guru was the 57th Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Parama Sivendra Saraswathy. Kanchi Paramacharya spent several hours every day doing meditation inside the temple. Next to the Samadhi is Shiva temple. Paramacharya arranged Puja at both the places.
Miracles of Sadhasiva Brahmendra
1.He surprised a Muslim who cut off his hand by just attaching it to his arm and walked away as if nothing happened.
2.He appeared in several places at the same time.
3.He took some children to Madurai to see the festival by Teletransportation.
4.He predicted his last day to his disciples. He told them that a Brahmin will bring a Shiva linga the next day from Varanasi and he will enter Samadhi on that day and then they can grow a Bilva tree over it and install the linga nearby and erect a Shiva temple over it. It all happened 250 years ago.
Sadhasiva’s brief and beautiful Sanskrit compositions are sung in music concerts and Bhajans. All his compositions have his signature Mudra/seal ‘Paramahamsa’.
Since we sing the Bhajans in our monthly congregations in London, I have been planning a visit for very long. After reading the book Jagadguru Divya Charitam (Year 1957) by Ramachandrapuram S Sambaasiva Murthy I wished that I should have the darshan. It is about Kanchi Paramacharya’s life. During his Vijaya Yatra he visited Neur.

I went to Siruvachur Mathura Kali Amman Temple with my brother. There was a big crowd and a long queue. But we were told that was a less crowded day and normally one will have to pay extra money to go through the special gate. It is near Perambalur in Trichy district.
The temple is open on Mondays and Fridays only. But during annual festival it is open continuously.Other days the goddess is said to reside in the nearby hill.
People offer Maa vilakku (Flour Lamp) prepared in the temple to the goddess. Maa Vilakku is Rice Flour Mixed with jaggery and in the middle they light the ghee lamp. It is done in front of the goddess shrine.
The temple is connected with Kannaki of Silappadikaram epic and Choza kings. Swami Brahmendra installed a Chakra (mysterious diagram drawn on a metal) here. The temple receives good income and it has got a golden chariot
Ghost busing slab
We went to Angala Parameswaari Temple in Mel Malaiyanur after visiting Chenji Fort. The goddess is in an ant hill. A long queue was there.
Just before the main shrine I saw a marble slab with a special design and a display board. That area was protected so that no one could step on it.
The message on the board runs like this-
A saint named Sannu Munivar lived here many centuries ago. He attained Jeeva Samadhi in the temple here and on his Samadhi is Pey Medai. i.e Ghost busting Slab. (Jeeva Samadhi means one will enter the grave while the person was alive. Even after a building was erected over thee Samadhi he is supposed to live there for ever. That means anyone visiting the place will get his blessings). If any one possessed by evil spirits sits on it the person will be cured. This belief continues until today”—says the display board in Tamil. On the fence leading to the shrine I saw bangles offered to god.
I was wondering about the design of the marble slab. later I saw it in another temple in Namakkal. A Facebook friend also featured some Kolam (Rangoli) in the same pattern.
In both the temples people offer clothes, bells, thread, swings etc to get issues. Young women pray to get married quickly. One can feel the good and positive vibrations in both the shrines. Villagers from the surrounding towns throng the place with great faith and devotion. Lemon garlands and flower garlands are sold outside the temples.
Sakti Kendras (Goddess Shrines) are situated throughout India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. People believe goddess’ body parts fell in different places and they became Power (Sakti) Centres. Mel Malayanur is one such power centres according to local stories.

It is said that Brahma hasn’t got many temples in Tamil Nadu. They say Pushkar in Rajasthan and a few places got temples for Brahma, one among the trinity. But to my surprise I saw a huge statue of Brahma thronged by a big crowd in Thiruppattur Brahmapureeswar temple in Tamil Nadu. Though the main shrine is devoted to Lord Shiva, Brahma was the sought after god there. The reason being people believed that He will rewrite your bad fate in your favour.
Lot of devotees came with their horoscopes written in note books and others came with A 4 size notes or Foolscap size note books. If some astrologers have written something bad will happen to you during such and such period, you may give your written prediction to the priest there. He collects and takes all of them to the God (in the form of statue) and return them to the respective devotee after Puja. Scores of note books of horoscopes changed hands during my short stay at the temple.
Apart from this belief, the statue itself was big and beautiful with sandal paste applied all over.
Where is Tiruppattur?
It is near Trichy. It is 34 kilometres from Trichy.Sa amyapuram is in between Trichy and Tiruppattur. When you google for this place you will be misled easily to other two Thiruppathurs in Tamil Nadu.
What is there?
In addition to a huge Brahma statue, there are 12 lings believed to be installed by Brahma himself. He worshipped Lord Shiva to get out of the curse.
Everyone must visit this beautiful temple. It was sung and praised by Saint Sundarar, one of the great Four Saivite saints.
My visit to Kidney Stone Cure Temple
Strange are the beliefs of Hindu devotees. They strongly believe that the stone Nataraja and the water tank inside the temple will cure kidney stones. Faith can do wonders. Probably some faithful got cured and spread the word.
Whether one has got Kidney stone or not, this Nataraja is rare because it is made up of stone. Other Natarajas (Dancing form of Lord Shiva) are made up of metals such as Pancha loka (Five metal alloy).
Here the Shiva Linga is in main shrine.
Where is it?
Just 43 kilometres from Trichy.
Name of the Lord – Suddha Rathneswar
It must be at least 1400 years old; Sung by Appar, one of the Four Great Saivite saints.
Why, Why, Why?
What amazed me and my brother who visited the temple in the last week of March 2019 is the location of oottathur, Karkudi and Tiruppattur temples. Why did the Choza kings chose some unknown distant locations and built temples in the middle of the green fields?
How did they bring huge stones into the middle of green fields?
Why did they choose such locations?
There is no rocks or hills in the near vicinity. There must be some mysterious reasons to choose such locations. Even my driver commented that the roads are zigzag like they were thousands of years ago. That shows it was not planned like the Big Temple of Thanjavur or Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple of Madurai. These temples in the remotest green fields came as Swayabmu Lingas (spontaneous growth) and were appreciated by the kings because of their miraculous powers. Their survival for 1500 years or more itself is a proof of their mysterious powers!
