உலகின் எந்த நாட்டிலும் எந்த ஒரு சண்டையிலும் காணாத அற்புதமான பெருந்தன்மையை ஹிந்து சேனை ஒன்று மட்டுமே கொண்டிருப்பதை பல வரலாற்றுச் சம்பவங்கள் எடுத்துரைக்கின்றன. இதில் ஒரு விசேஷ அம்சம் என்னவெனில் இதை அந்த ஹிந்து சேனையை எதிர்த்தவர்களே கண்டு அயர்ந்து வியந்து பாராட்டி இருப்பது தான். இது அந்தக் காலத்தில் மட்டுமல்ல, சமீபத்திய உலகப் போர்களிலும் காணப்பட்டது. அதை பல குறிப்பேடுகள் விவரிக்கின்றன. அதைத் தொகுத்துக் கலைக்களஞ்சியமாக்கத் தான் ஆளில்லை. பெரும் பணியான இது ஒரு தனிமனிதனால் செய்ய முடியாது. அரசு அல்லது பெரும் நிறுவனங்கள் பொறுப்பேற்றுச் செய்ய வேண்டிய பணி இது. நாம் தான் செகுலர் ஆயிற்றே. அரசு என்ற முறையிலும் செய்ய மாட்டோம்; அறப்பணியில் ஈடுபட்டு முன்வரும் நிறுவனங்களையும் செகுலர் என்ற பெயரால் செய்ய விட மாட்டோம்; இது தான் இன்றைய நிலை. இது மாறுமா; மாற்ற நாம் முன் வருவோமா – சற்று சிந்திக்க வேண்டும்!

லட்சக்கணக்கான சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட வீரர்கள் தங்கள் இன்னுயிரை நாம் இன்று அனுபவிக்கும் சுதந்திரத்திற்காக தியாகம் செய்தனர்; என்றாலும் கூட  பெயரளவுக்குத் தலைவராக இருந்த ஒருவருக்கே இந்த சுதந்திரம் பெற்ற பெருமைப் போய்ச் சேர்வதாக இருக்கிறது.

ஏன் நமது முன்னோர்கள் ஒரு  எதிர்ப்பையும் செய்யவில்லை? ஏன் நாம் இவ்வளவு மிக மோசமாக கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம், கொலை செய்யப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம்? இந்தக் கேள்விகள் நிச்சயம் நம்மை நமது பண்பாட்டு வேர் மற்றும் புராதனம், நமது வரலாறு, பாரம்பரியங்கள், நமது தேசத்திற்கான சொந்தம் கொண்டாடும் தன்மை ஆகிய நீரோட்டத்திலிருந்து மாறுபடச் செய்கின்றன.

நமது வரலாற்றின் அடிவேரைப் பற்றிப் புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டிய தருணம் இதுவே தான்! ஜெய் ஹிந்த்! (www.myindiamyglory.com/ 2018/11/21).

இத்துடன் கட்டுரை முடிகிறது. தொடர்ந்து ட்ரூத் ஆங்கில வார இதழ் இந்தக் கட்டுரையை ஒட்டிய தனது கருத்தைத் தருகிறது. அதில் மேலும் பல விஷயங்கள் இருப்பதால் அதையும் படித்து உணர வேண்டியது அவசியமாகிறது. அதையும் கீழே தருகிறோம்.

1. இந்தியாவில் நாடு எங்கணும் பல்வேறு இடங்களில் யுத்தங்கள் நடந்தன. ஆயின் மிகுந்த வீரம் கொண்ட ராஜஸ்தானின் ராஜபுத்திர வம்சம் எப்போதுமே போர்க்களத்தில் அசாத்திய வீரத்துடன் போரிடும். ஒரு ரத வீரன் ஒரு பொழுதும் காலாட்படை வீரரைத் தாக்க மாட்டான்.ஒரு குதிரை வீரன் ஒரு பொழுதும் காலாட்படை வீரரைத் தாக்க மாட்டான். ராஜபுத்திரர்களுக்கு எப்போதுமே சரிக்குச் சமமான வீரர்களுடன் மட்டுமே தான் போர்!

சாகும் வரை போர் என்று தீர்மானித்து விட்ட தருணங்களில் அந்த வீரர்கள் ஜரத் காபர்வாலா என்று சொல்லப்படும் மஞ்சள் ஆடையை அணிவர்.  ஜோத்பூர் ராணாவுக்கும் சிந்தியா வீரர்களுக்கும் இடையே மார்டாவில் நடந்த போரைப் பற்றி  சிந்தியாக்களுடன் சேர்ந்து போரிட்ட ஒரு பிரிட்டிஷ் வீரன் போரைப் பற்றி இப்படி குறித்து வைத்துள்ளான்:

“ஜரத் காபர்வாலாக்களின் வீரத்தையும் தைரியத்தையும் விளக்க வார்த்தைகளே இல்லை. சேனை விரட்டப்பட்ட போதும் அவர்களை விட ஒரு படி மேலான நிலையை அடைந்த போதும் கூட சிந்தியாக்களின் மிகப்பெரிய சேனையுடன் மீதமுள்ள 15-20 போர்வீரர்கள் போரிட்டுக் கொண்டே இருந்தனர். ஒரு ராஜபுத்திர வீரன் கூட இறுதி மூச்சு வரை போர்க்களத்தை விட்டு அகலவில்லை. ஒவ்வொரு ராஜபுத்திர போர்வீரனும் பல சிந்தியா வீரர்களை இறக்கும் முன்னர் கொன்று குவித்தான்.”

ஜேம்ஸ் ஸ்கின்னர் என்ற ஐரோப்பிய தளகர்த்தன்  கி.பி. 1800ஆம் ஆண்டு மால்பூரில் நடந்த போர் பற்றிய தனது போர்க்கள விவரணத்தில் ராஜபுத்திர வீரர்கள் வீரத்துடன் அதிக தீரத்துடனும் பீரங்கிப் படை குண்டுமாரி பொழியும் போது சற்றும் பயமின்றி எதிர்த்ததைக் குறிப்பிடுகிறார். நூற்றுக் கணக்கான ராஜபுத்திர வீரர்களை துளைக்கும் பைனட்டோ அல்லது பீரங்கி குண்டு மழையோ கொன்ற போதும் சற்றும் அஞ்சாது  மீதியுள்ள சேனை மேகக் கூட்டம் போல அதி பயங்கர ஆரவாரத்தைச் செய்து எதிரிகளின் மீது ஏறியது.

கி.பி.1750ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்டா போர்க்களத்தின் அருகில் நடந்த ஒரு சம்பவம் விசேஷமாகக் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க ஒன்றாகும். டெல்லியைச் சேர்ந்த சலாவத் கானால் ராஜா ராம் சிங்கின் சேனை தாக்கப்பட்டது. நான்கு மணி நேரம் நடந்த அதி பயங்கர சண்டைக்குப் பின்னர் சலாவத் கானின் சேனை தளர்ச்சியுற்று அதி பயங்கர பாலைவன சூரிய வெப்பத்தில் வெப்பத்தாலும் தாகத்தாலும் செத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அந்தக் கணத்தில் எல்லா நீர்நிலைகளும் ராஜபுத்திரர்களின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் இருந்தது. நெடுநேரம் தண்ணீருக்காக வீணே அலைந்து தேடிய பின்னர் எதிரிகளான ராஜபுத்திரர்களின் முகாமிலிருந்து நீரைக் கேட்டு அவர்கள் பெற்றனர்.

மிக்க தீரத்துடனும் தயாள மனப்பான்மையுடன் இருந்த ராஜபுத்திர வீரர்கள் எதிரிகளை நீரைக் கையில் ஏந்திக் கொண்டு வரவேற்றனர். அது அவர்களுக்கும் அவர்கள் குதிரைகளுக்கும் போதுமானதாக இருந்தது. இந்த அசாதாரணமான பெருந்தன்மையால் தங்கள் சக்தியையும் பலத்தையும் மீண்டும் முகலாய சேனை பெற்றவுடன் சண்டை மீண்டும் தொடங்கியது.

மேலே கண்ட தமிழாக்கத்தின் ஆங்கில மூலம் கீழே தரப்படுகிறது :

Lakhs of freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the freedom we enjoy today yet this freedom is attributed to one namesake leader.

Why did our ancestors not offer any resistance? Why were we always so easily looted and plundered? These questions are bound to drift us from our rich cultural roots and ancestry, from our historicity and traditions, from our belongingness to the nation.

1. In India, battles have taken place across the country. But the gallant Rajput clan of Rajasthan would always fight their battle with bravery and chivalry. A charioteer would never attack a foot soldier; a cavalier would never challenge a footman. For the Rajputs, war would always be among equals.

On occasions when the Rajputs would prepare to fight till they die, they would wear a yellow dressing and be known as Zarad Kaparwala. An account of the battle of Marta that occurred between the soldiers of Jodhpur Rana and the soldiers of Scindhia, narrated by a British soldier who was part of the Scindhia soldiers reads as this :

“No words can express the level of courage and gallantry of the Zarad Kaparwalas. Even after being dispersed and overtaken, the remaining 15-20 soldiers kept fighting the much bigger army of Scindhias and not a single of the Rajputs left the war until the last breath. Each Rajput warrior had killed many of the opponent Scindhia contingents before he had breathed his last.”

James Skinner, a European general, in his narrative of the Battle of Malpur 1800 AD, had described the Rajput army to be valiant and overwhelming, that remained undeterred in the face of artillery shower. Completely fearless of the piercing bayonet or the artillery shower that killed hundreds of Rajput fighters, the rest of the army mounted on their opponent creating a terrific din much akin to a cloud burst.

One incident that occurred in year 1750 AD near the battlefield of Marta needs special mention. The army of Rajah Ram Singh had been attacked by Salavat Khan of Delhi. After a tremendous battle continuing over four hours, the army of Salavat Khan grew restless and were dying out of heat and thirst in the scorching desert sun. All the sources of water were under the control of the Rajputs at that moment. After a long futile search for water, the Muslim army sought water from their opponent Rajput camps.

The chivalrous and broad-hearted Rajput clan welcomed their enemies with water, sufficient enough for the cavalry and their horses. When the Muslim army had restored their energy and vigor by this tremendous show of generosity of the Rajput clan, the battle resumed.
