Manu smriti recommends some strange Hindu rituals that have become obsolete now. This shows that original Manu lived around Vedic times. Later a lot of hands played with the Smriti and interpolated lot of unwanted things.
Manu talks about Chaandraayana in 5-20, 11-219 (yati chaandraayana) and in 11-220(sisu chandraayana) vows. These vratas meant ascetic moon course and child’s moon course.
Manu recommends extra painful vow known as Atikrcchra in 11-209 and 214.

What is the meaning?
Chandrayana vrata consisted in diminishing the quantity of food everyday by one mouthful or the waning half of the lunar month, beginning with fifteen morsels at the full moon/Purnima, and ending with a total fast at the new moon(Amavasya), and then increasing it in like manner during the next fortnight.
Atikrcchra consisted in eating only a single mouthful of food everyday for nine successive days, and then abstaining from all food for the next three days.

Of all these Chandrayana and Atikrcchra vratas are the most popular in his day and he quoted them over 25 times. This proved original Manu lived long, long ago; not second century BCE as many believe. ( I have already given other points such as reference to running Sarasvati river, high praise for only Rig Veda, crossing the ocean is a sin etc to prove his age).
Without the commentators help, we would not have understood these vratas.

இவர் ஒரு சமயம் தானும் சங்கப்புலவர்கள் வரிசையில் அதே தரத்தில் உள்ளவனே என அங்கீகரித்து சங்கப் புலவர்களின் விக்கிரகங்கள் தலை அசைக்கும்படி ஒரு பாடலையும் பாடியுள்ளார்.

Max Muller misled the whole world saying that Germans are Aryans and he was also a proud Aryan, being a German. He wrote it in an excited mood and his original words are in my blog. Hitler got that point and put the Hindu symbol Swastika in his flag and declared himself a proud Aryan. Because he massacred Jews, Swatika emblem is hated by the Anti Hitler gangs around the world. Recently Germany spent lot of money to demolish and reconstruct a building because it looked like Swstika design. But Hindus never bothered about their approach to Swastika emblem. We have found Swastika seals in Indus- Sarasvati River Civilization and in all the Hindu scriptures. Even today we use it in the wedding invitations, Festival invitations etc. Historians have found Swastika used through out ancient cultures whether it is Greek or Etruscan.
Not many people knew that it is part of four months celebration of Hindu women.
Swastika Vrata
On every evening during the four months of the rainy season women draw a Swastika and worship. At the close of the period , they present a Brahmin with a gold or silver plate, on which the same symbol appears. Swastika symbol is an ancient symbol of good luck. They print it in wedding invitations and draw it on the shop walls.
Four month refers to Chaturmasya Vrata; during those four months ascetics of all religions of India never move from one town to another because of monsoon rains.
Since it is found all over Europe, scholars believe that it is a symbol of sun.
The right hand Swastika is that almost always used. Swasti +ka means ‘May it be well’.
On Varalakshmi Vrata day, a Swastika is drawn on the floor and then two pounds of wheat flour on the symbol so drawn, and on it should be placed a kalash or lota filled with rice, says the book (Page 53 of Hindu Holidays and Ceremonials by Rai Bahadur B A Gupte, 1919). This book explains more Swastika drawings during Vata Savitri Vrata and Gauri Puja. The symbol is called Fyl-fot cross in the book.

It is observed from Kartika Full moon day to Margasirsha Full moon day. But in Bihar the whole of Kartika month is the Puja period.
The word Itu is derived from Mitra- the sun. this Puja is performed every Sunday for a month by women in Bengal. Libations of water is offered in small pots to the sun and afterwards they are immersed in a river or tank.
An old legend tells the usual tale of a family in want and trouble restored to prosperity and happiness through the performance of this sun worship by a daughter.
Every Sunday in the Hindu month of Sravana, the sun is worshipped.
Gajagauri Vrata
This is a rich man’s puja. The entry of the sun into Hasta (or Gaja) Nakshatra is also important for Sun worshippers. This occurs about the month Asvina, at the close of the rainy season. It can only be observed properly by the rich, as the correct ceremony includes the gift of a golden elephant, on which are seated golden figures of Siva, Gauri, his wife, Ganesa their son; also a golden image of Gauri on an elephant should be worshipped. Golden gift is given to a brahmin priest.

இந்த இறுதி பகுதியில் 24 ஏகாதசிக்களின் பெயர்களையும் கொடுத்துள்ளேன். ஒவ்வொரு ஏகாதசிக்கும் ஒரு கதை உள்ளதையும் வெவ்வேறு பெயர்களால் அவை அழைக்கப்படுவதையும் நினைவில் வைத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். மேலும் இந்துக்களின் பஞ்சாங்கப்படி இரண்டு மூன்று வருடங்களுக்கு ஒரு முறை அதிக மாதம் வரும். அதாவது ஆண்டுக்கு 12 மாதங்களுக்குப் பதிலாக 13 மாதம். அவ்வாறு வருகையில் 26 ஏகாதசிக்கள் ஏற்படும். இந்த விரதம் பற்றி வேதத்தில் குறிப்பு இல்லை. ஆயினும் மஹாபாரதம், புராணக் கதைகள் இதன் பழமையைக் காட்டுகின்றன.
24 ஏகாதசிக்களில் சில ஏகாதசி முக்கியமானவை. அவைகளில் ஒன்று தேவோத்தன ஏகாதசி. இது கார்த்திகை மாதம் சுக்லபக்ஷம் வரும் ஏகாதசி. நான்கு மாதங்கள் தூக்கத்தில் இருந்த விஷ்ணு விழித்தெழுந்த மாதம் இது. அப்போது வரும் ஏகாதசி என்பதால் இந்தப்பெயர். இதை ப்ரபோதினி ஏகாதசி என்றும் அழைப்பர். அவர் தூங்க சென்ற மாதம் வரும் ஏகாதசியை சயன அல்லது சாயனி ஏகாதசி என்று அழைப்பர் ; உன்மையில் கடவுள் தூங்கவில்லை. இந்தியாவின் தென் மேற்குப் பருவமழை கேரளத்தில் துவங்கி, இமயமலையில் மோதி திரும்பி வரும் . (Returning Monsoon) அப்போது நாட்டின் பெரும்பகுதிகளில் மழை கொட்டும். இதனால் சாது சந்யாசிகள் சாதுர்மாஸ்ய விரதம் என்ற பெயரில் 4 மாதங்களுக்கு எங்கும் செல்லாமல் ஒரே இடத்தில் முகாமிட்டு வழிபாடு செய்வார்கள். இதையே தேவர்கள் தூங்கும் காலம், கடவுளர் தூங்கும் காலம் என்று அழைப்பர் இந்த ஏகாதசியை சுவாமிநாராயண் பிரிவினர் பெரிதும் போற்றுவார்கள்.
ஏகாதசியின் போது விரதம் அனுஷ்டிக்கும் முறைகளையும் இதிஹாச புராணங்கள் நமக்கு விதிக்கின்றன..
அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து குளித்துவிட்டு விஷ்ணுவை வணங்கி அவர் பெயரை ஜபிக்க வேண்டும் ; குறைந்தது 108 முறை ; உணவு சாப்பிடக்கூடாது. நீரையும் முடிந்தவரை தவிர்க்கலாம்.விஷ்ணுவுக்கு மலர்கள்,துளசி, பழங்களை நைவேத்யம் செய்யலாம்.. வயதுக்கும் உடல் நிலைக்கும் ஏற்றவாறு சிலர் பால் , பழங்கள் அல்லது உப்பு உரைப்பற்ற கஞ்சியை அருந்துவார்கள் .
பொதுவாக பெருமாள் கோவில்களில் ஏகாதசியன்று பக்தர்கள் கூட்டம் காணப்படும்.ஏனெனில் அன்று கோவிலுக்குச் சென்று வழிபடுவது சிறப்பு. பண்டரீபுரம் , திருவரங்கம், திருப்பதி , குருவாயூர் முதலியன குறிப்பிடத் தக்கவை பண்டரிபுரம் முதலிய மஹாராஷ்டிர வைணவக் கோவில்களில் ஆஷாட ஏகாதசி பெரிதாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது இது ஆடி மாதம் ; (ஜூன்/ ஜுலையில்) வரும். தமிழ் நாட்டில் பெருமாள் கோவில்களில் மார்கழி மாதம் வரும் வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி பெரிதாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

“கர்வம் என்பது ஒரு ஆயுதம்” – 2003ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளியான ‘தி ரெய்ஸ் ஆஃப் ஈவில்” என்ற படத்தில் ஹிட்லர் கூறுவது
ஹிட்லரின் நாஜி ஜெர்மனியில் நடத்தப்பட்ட, ரத்தத்தை உறைய வைக்கும் கொடூரமான கொலைகளுக்கு ஒரு கணக்கே இல்லை,
இவற்றில் மிகவும் மோசமான கொலைகள் கருணைக் கொலை என்ற பெயரில் நடத்தப்பட்டவை தாம்!
உடல் ஊனம் அல்லது குறைபாடு ஹிட்லரைப் பொறுத்த மட்டில் ஒரு மருத்துவக் குறைபாடு அல்ல. அது இனத்தின் மரபணுவில் இருக்கும் ஒரு குறைபாடு என்று கருதப்பட்டது.
ஹிட்லர் “தனது ஆர்ய இனம்” என்பது உயரிய இனம் என்று கருதியதால் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான உடல் ஊனமுற்றோரைச் சிறை செய்து கருணக்கொலை செய்து அவற்றின் மூளைகளை ஆய்வு செய்யக் கட்டளையிட்டான். இந்த மூளைகள் இன்னும் இருக்கின்றன.

இந்த ஆயிரக்கணக்கான மூளைகள் மற்றும் மூளை சம்பந்தப்பட்ட சிலைடுகள் உள்ளிட்டவை அனைத்தும் மாக்ஸ் ப்ளாங்க் சொஸைடியில் பத்திரமாக வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
இந்த மூளை ஆய்வுத் திட்டத்திற்கு அகிடன் டி 4 (Akiton T4) என்று பெயர்.
தனது உயரிய இனத்தைச் “சுத்தமாக” வைத்துக் கொள்ள ஹிட்லர் 1933இல் தான் அதிகாரத்திற்கு வந்தவுடன் இந்த மூளை ஆராய்ச்சியை மேற்கொண்டான். மனம் மற்றும் உடல் ரீதியிலான குறைகள் இனத்தை அசுத்தப்படுத்தும் குறைகள் என்பது அவனது கருத்து.
1940இல் டி4 திட்டம் தொடங்கப்பட்டவுடன் ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் உடல் ஊனமுற்றோர் சிறை பிடிக்கப்பட்டு மரணக் கிடங்கு என்று சொல்லப்பட்ட ஓரிடத்தில் இருந்த கருணைக்கொலைக்கான ‘மருத்துவ தொழிற்சாலை மையங்க’ளுக்கு அழைத்து வரப்பட்டனர். அங்கு குழந்தைகளுக்கு மரண ஊசி போடப்பட்டது. பெரியவர்க்ள் கேஸ் சேம்பரில் விஷ வாயு செலுத்தி கொல்லப்பட்டனர்.
இப்படி கொல்லப்பட்டோர் சுமார் இரண்டு லட்சத்தி ஐம்பதியாயிரம் பேர் என்று கணக்கிடப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. இவற்றில் ஐந்து சதவிகிதம் பேரின் மூளைகள் ஆய்வுக்காக எடுக்கப்பட்டன.
மூளைகள் அனைத்தும் பெர்லினில் உள்ள கெய்ஸர் வில்ஹெல்ம் இன்ஸ்டிடியூட்டிற்கு அனுப்பப்பட்ட்ன. இந்த நிறுவனம் ஏராளமான விஞ்ஞானிகள் நோபல் பரிசு பெற வழி வகுத்த ஒரு அருமையான நிறுவனம்.
இரண்டாம் உலகப்போர் முடிந்தவுடன் இதை மாக்ஸ்பிளாங்க் சொஸைடி தன் வசம் எடுத்துக் கொண்டது. விஞ்ஞானிகள் தாஙகள் மேற்கொண்ட மூளை மற்றும் செல் ஆராய்ச்சிக்கு இங்கு வந்து பாதுகாக்கப்பட்டு வைத்திருந்த மூளைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தலாயினர்.
1980ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆய்வில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்த விஞ்ஞானிகள், பாதுகாத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த இன்னும் ஏராளமான மூளைகளைக் “கண்டுபிடித்தனர்”.
மாக்ஸ் ப்ளாங்க் சொஸைடி 1933 முதல் 1945 முடிய ஹிட்லரின் சர்வாதிகார ஆட்சியில் கொல்லப்பட்டோரின் மூளைகளை மூனிச்சில் உள்ள ஒரு கல்லறையில் புதைத்து வைத்திருந்தது. இவை இப்போது எடுக்கப்பட்டு விட்டன.
இந்த மூளைகளை வைத்து அவை யாருடையவை என்பதைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கும் முயற்சி பெரிய முயற்சி.

I have given below the names of 24 Ekadasis. Few of them have more than one name; once in two or three years, we come across an extra month called Adhika month. That year we will have extra Ekadasis .
Devotthan Ekadasi occurs on the 11th day of sukla paksha (bright half) of Kartik month. The epithet Devotthan signifies that on this day god Vishnu is believed to wake up from sleep. According to the puranas, Vishnu sleeps for the four months of rainy season. He goes to sleep on Sayana Ekadasi.
This Ekadasi is also known as Prabodhini Ekadasi and followers of Swaminarayan sect consider it very important.
His sleeping period is also known as chaturmasya vrata. Ascetics stay in one place, avoiding all travels.
