If you agree that Tamil and Sanskrit speaking Hindus migrated to various parts of the world, all the linguist theories will be exploded, and dust binned. For Tamils the evidence is in South East Asia. For Northern Hindus, the evidence is in Iran, Sumer and Europe.

Over 50 Sanskrit words are found in Finnish and Hungarian languages. Hungarian linguist Janos Harmatta and British linguist Thomas Burrow, who belong to Max Muller gang and believed that Aryans came into India from outside, and said that all these words were borrowed from (imaginary language called) Proto Indo European. Those imaginary languages have neither literature nor script. Moreover these fellows started from 5000 BCE and we know that these Finnish- Hungarian speakers were naked barbarians chewing raw meat at that time (Mecaulay himself said it). But we have well developed civilizations in Egypt, Middle East and Sarasvati- Sindhu river banks by 2500 BCE . White skinned people could not show any civilized building or culture in Europe and so they invented ‘Indo European language’. On the contrary, we have Sanskrit inscriptions from 1500 BCE in Dasaratha letters of Egypt and Bogazkoy inscription of Mitannians in Turkey and Surya (1400 BCE).

Rejecting all these written archaeological evidence, just to discredit Sanskrit, they invented ‘Indo European’.

If we believe Tamil and Sanskrit books who said that they were sons of the soil, then no Tamil lover and no Sanskrit lover can believe these half -baked idiots. If we reject Caldwell gangs who said Dravidians came into India from the Mediterranean areas and Max Mmuller gangs who said Aryans came into India from Caspian sea area, then these linguists will be dust binned. If we place Rig Veda between 4000 BCE and 6000 BCE as proposed by B G Tilak and Herman Jacobi on astronomical basis, then the theories of these Caldwell gangs and Max Muller gangs will be powedered.

The fact of the matter is that all key words in ancient languages can be traced to Sanskrit and Tamil. Hebrew words Abba/ father , bet/ house can be traced to Appa in Tamil and Veedu in Tamil.

Kudi, kudir, hut, cottage are in Tamil and Sanskrit

Pur, pura, Polis/Gk are in Tamil and Sanskrit

Ham, gham, gram , Grama are in Sanskrit

Horse and chariot /ratha which are found more in the Rig Veda and Sangam Tamil literature than any other literatures in the world, it proved that we taught them, we exported them the goods.

If you reverse the word Ratha in Sanskrit into Tamil you get Ther; it is called mirror image;

Horse is famous for jumping and galloping and in Tamil it is

Kuthi = jump; we get kuthirai; if you swap letters it becomes tuRAga= ktura= Turkey= Kurra in other languages

(read the last bit about swapping of letters from Guradian newspaper)

Pari is the Sangam Tamil word for horse; it is changed into Mare in European languages.;

P = V= M changes are well documented in Linguistics .

Ivuli is the Tamilword for horse used by Manikavasagar in Tiruvasgam; it becomes Equs in Latin (Equestrian event in Olympics)

Examples of P=M (Pari=Mare=Horse)

Money = Pana; Manual= Panual in Tamil; Bandar= Mandi in Tamil; Bhadra= Madra in Panini; Full=Muzu in Tamil; Pasture= Meychal in Tamil; Manufacture= Pannu in Tamil; Bloom= Malarthal in Tamil)

Xxx

Sathya Swarup Mishra in his book “The Aryan Problem- A Linguistic Approach” shows thar all the so called I .E. words are Sanskrit words. For Sanskrit and Tamil words, we have evidence in literature; for European languages the evidence starts only from Homer of 800 BCE. Latin literature came into the scene nearer to Tamil literature period.

Following are the words given by British linguist Thomas Burrow; he attributed the words as borrowings from Indo-Iranian:

1.Seta/100 -Finn – seta , sat-Hung, satem- Avestan, satam – Sanskrit

We have Satam in the Rig Veda. No other proof before Rig Veda is available in any part of the world.

xxx

2.Azoro / lord in Finno- Ugric languages, Asura in Skt; Ahura in Avestan

(Asurar is in Tamil Silappadikaram and Manimekalai)

xxx

3.Vasara /hammer -Finno- Ugric languages -vajra as Indra’s weapon in Rig Veda; Vazra/Av

(Tamil Purananuru also used Vachchira; it is same as Finnish and Avestan; that shows all the languages changed the Sanskrit word in the same way later, because all these languages have no “J” sound/letter.)

xxx

4.Porsas /Pig- Finn.Parsas- Indo-Iranian

(P=V change is seen in many old words; that takes us to Varaha in Sanskrit; H=S is also seen Sindhu= Hindhu)

xxx

5.Oras /boar- Finn, Varaaza/Av; Varaha/Skt

Xxx

6.Utar /udder-Finn; Uudhar/skt

Xxx

7.ora/owl-Finn; Aaraa/skt

8.Ostor/whip-Hung.; Astra in Skt.; astra in Av.

9.Arany/gold-Hung.; Hiranya /skt; Zaranya/Av.

10.Arvo/value, price- Hung.; argha/skt

11.sisar/sister-Svasar/skt; Xanhar/Av.

12.Sor/Beer-Hung; Sura/skt; hura/av.

13.sarvi/horn-Finn; sruu, sruuva/Av.; Srnga/skt

14.Suorp/deer/elk-Finno Ugric; Sarabha in Skt.

15.Sed/Bridge in Finno-Ugric; Setu in skt; Haetu in Av.

16.Vargas/wolf- Finno Ugric; Vrka/skt;

17.Turin/grass-Finno Ugric; trna in Skt.

18.vork/kidney- Finno Ugric- vrkka/skt

19.tas/stranger- Finno Ugric; Das/a in Skt (slave or Non Aryan); King Su Das is in the Rig Veda.

20.Vaszon/linear-Hung; vasana/garment in Skt.

21.Mehi/bee-Hung; Maksa/Makshika- fly, bee in Skt

22.Siikanen/Finn; suka in skt.

23.Sava/goat- Finno Ugric; Chaaga/skt

Now that we know Avestan literature (gathas in Zend Avesta) is later than Rig Veda, we knew who borrowed from whom. Original and oldest forms are available in the Rig Veda.

When Sanskrit words migrate to various areas they are localised or changed according to the letters and sounds available in that language. Tamis follow this rule from the Sangam period until today.

Xxx

More words from Hungarian linguist Janos Harmatta :

(FU- Finno Ugric; Skt-Sanskrit; Av.- Avestan)

Aja – to drive, to hunt ;aja- skt

Orpas /orwas – Orphan- arbha/arbaka in skt

Onca /part- Anga in skt

Tajine /cow; Dhenu /skt

Septa /7- sapta /skt

Kota /house – Kuti (it is even in Tamil); cottage in English

Desa/ dasa(10), Sata/100 are also in many languages.

Earliest evidence available only in Rig veda.

All are imaginary , west invented  Proto I.E.

No documented evidence before Rig Veda.

xxx

Mekse/ honey bee; Makshika/skt

Mete /honey; Madhu in Rig Veda

Jewa/corn – Yava in Skt.

This is a good proof. No language in the ancient world had “J “ sound except Sanskrit. This clearly shows who borrowed from whom; as Hindus went round the world , “J “ sound was introduced into ancient languages. When the English used “J “ wrongly, all “Y” got confused with “J “(Jesus= Yesu; Jospeh= Yusuf; Jew= Yudha , Java=Yava etc)

In Tamli Jaamam became Yaamam (a word in Time)

Xxx

Wisa /anger; dvesam Skt; dresham- Malayalam ; visam/skt

Xxx

Onke /hook; ankusa/skt

Xxx

If we compare these with 2000 year old Tamil literature, we can prove the linguists are wrong.

Most of the languages follow the same linguistic changes:

L=R

P/B=V=M

R=L=D/T

M =N

K/C=S/C

J=Y

( I have shown examples for these changes in my 150 articles in this blog)

Also Mirror images : Leo= Yali; Ratha=Ther;

Also swapping letters : Mathurai= MaRUthai; kuthirai= kuRUthai; Turga= Kuturai

I read an interesting passage about swapping of letters recently: Kanchi Paramacharaya (1894-1994) also dealt with this point in his excellent linguistic lectures (available in English published by Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, Bombay)

Xxx

Here is the passage:-

Don’t Believe a Word by David Shariatmadari review – the truth about language

A myth-busting account of how languages emerge, change, and influence the way we think

As a boy, David Shariatmadari would sit in the hallway and listen to his Iranian father speaking Farsi on the phone to his family in Tehran. It was an early introduction to the estranging beauty of unfamiliar language. So began an interest in linguistics that has given birth to this book, a skilful summation of the latest research on how languages emerge, change, convey meaning and influence how we think.

Each chapter explodes a common myth about language. Shariatmadari begins with the most common myth: that standards of English are declining. This is a centuries-old lament for which, he points out, there has never been any evidence. Older people buy into the myth because young people, who are more mobile and have wider social networks, are innovators in language as in other walks of life. Their habit of saying “aks” instead of “ask”, for instance, is a perfectly respectable example of metathesis, a natural linguistic process where the sounds in words swap round. (The word “wasp” used to be “waps” and “horse” used to be “hros”.) Youth is the driver of linguistic change. This means that older people feel linguistic alienation even as they control the institutions – universities, publishers, newspapers, broadcasters – that define standard English.

COTTON PLACES RIG VEDA BEFORE HARAPPAN CIVILIZATION (Post No.10,773)

The word for cotton in Sanskrit is KARPAASA. It is found in Greek, Hebrew and Latin. The botanical term Gossypium is also derived from the Sanskrit word. There are two more ancient words for cotton – katn in Arabic and a few other old languages. Tamil which is spoken for at least 2000 years, has PANJI and PARUTHTHI.

We don’t find Tamil word anywhere else in the ancient world; but Sanskrit Karpasa is in many parts of the world.

In Egypt cotton has been used for at least for 2000 years. Warwick university analysed 1600 year old cotton seeds in Sudan and found out they are different from Indian variety. Now Egyptian cotton is known for its strength and length. In south America another variety was used by ancient people.

But India has the oldest cotton material in the world. It is found in Harappan sites. The Sanskrit word Karpasa travelled round the world than other words. Moreover Indian climate, like Egypt, suits better than sub-tropical or temporal countries.

Greek cannot be the origin of the word or the plant. They wrote funny stories about cotton ‘TREES’. Even Virgil thought it was a ‘tree’. They thought sheep giving it to some plants.

Greeks borrowed the Sanskrit word Karpaasa .

xxx

One must look at Tamil or Sanskrit sources for literary evidence. Here is what Satya Swarup Misra says in his book, ‘The Aryan Problem, A Linguistic Approach’ says,

“Evidence of cotton cloth is found in several sites of the Indus Valley civilization, viz. Mohenjo daro , Lothal etc, Wheeler considered this to be the earliest evidence for cotton. K D Sethna shown that the word ‘karpaasas’ does not occur in the main Vedic literature and is first of all found in Gautama Dharma sutra. Therefore, the Vedic literature must antiquate the Indus civilization. Since Indus civilization starts from 2500 BCE, Sethna proposes the date of Rig Veda to be at least 3500 BCE, allowing 1000 years for the development of Vedic literature in several stages (Samhita, Brahmana, Aranyaka, Upanishads).

The date of Rigveda proposed as 5000 BCE on linguistic evidence is not contradicted by this. Now excavations on the Bolan river in Central Baluchistan  have uncovered a series of agricultural settlements more than 3000 years older than Harappan sites, where cotton seeds are found.

xxx

Parsi Evidence

One must take into account the cotton sacred thread worn by millions of Brahmins (Punul in Tamil; janenu; yajnopaveetha) until this day. Like Brahmins, Parsis (Zoroastrians) also wear pure white Kushti and Sudre made up of cotton. I will consider this as more ancient evidence than the literary evidence. Brahmins make this sacred thread only from cotton. So do Parsis.

xxx

Tamil Evidence

The words for cotton in Tamil Panju/ Panchi and Paruththi (பருத்தி, பஞ்சு ) also provide evidence for at least 2000 years.

Like Rigveda , we see women spinning  thread in Tamil homes.

Tamils wore cotton dress because of hot weather. More than 15 references are available in ancient Tamil literature. But it is not in the oldest book Tolkappiam.one must remember both are not botany books.

xxxx

xxxx

xxx

xxxx

xxxxx

HUMATA= SU MATHI IN SANSKRIT (H=S)

HUKHTA= SU UKTA IN SANSKRIT

HVRASHTA = SU VARISHTA IN SANSKRIT

VOHU MANO or  BAHMAN = GOOD MIND

Xxx

The second form of peacock veneration by the Mitannians had a long story , too. One line is traceable to Palestine, perhaps in connection with the Aryans in  Palestine; a griffin ivory from the 13th century BCE found at  Meggido. The second and more important line leads from the Mitannians, the over lord of the  Assyrians, to the then independent Assyria. We find in the middle and late Assyrian art the tree of life between two bird headed demons, the followers of peacock dancers…..The importance of this group in Assyrian art, representing the long living tradition of a  ‘mixed’ animal as the symbol of battle (with lion and peacock in Iranian tradition) poses the question: where , when and  from whom the Iranians could have borrowed this motif; could it have been from the Indo-Aryans or another people venerating peacock before 1600 BCE. That could mean that the Aryans should have been in contact with India even earlier. Yet the development of Andronovo culture did not start before  1650-1600 BCE. So we are forced to accept Indo-Aryans in what is now Iran , especially Eastern Iran before 1600  BCE were under the Indian influence for  such a long period that they could have taken over the peacock veneration. In that case they could not have been part of Andronovo culture, but should have come to Iran centuries before at the time when the Hittites came to Anatolia.(Read my article how priceless, gem studded Peacock Throne disappeared from India).

Thus, Brentjes has supplied us with a very important archaeological evidence and he has shown with cogent arguments that Indo-Aryans were in India much before the second half of the third millennium BCE and they moved to Iran and Iraq from India and influenced them culturally.

xxx

Additional evidence from Kassites

Kassites dynasty of Babylon (1750-1170) BCE has linguistic evidence to support Hindu presence in Babylon. They show a few names of Rig Vedic gods

Suurias – Sooryah in Sanskrit

Maruttas – war god Maruttah in Sanskrit

Abirattas – Abhirathah , a king name in Sanskrit

These names are clearly Indo-Aryan and not Iranian because ‘s’ is found  as ‘h’ is Iranian.  Their language has no aspirate sound to represent bh and th.

The Kassite evidence also is helpful to put Rig Veda beyond 2000  BCE

More about PEACOCK

From the book “Dictionary of Symbolism” by Hans Biedermann

Pavus is the Latin word for peacock. The cock comes from Kukkuta in Sanskrit.

This splendid bird comes from India, where its lavish spread of feathers in male bird made the bird a symbol for the SUN.

The peacock journeyed by way of Babylonia , Persia and Asia minor to Samos , where he became the sacred bird at the shrine to Hera . in the fifth century BCE, Athenians paid to see peacocks displayed as sideshow curiosities; in the second century BCE, the Romans considered them sacred to the goddess Juno . In India many gods are portrayed riding on peacocks.

In the Western World, they were considered mysterious because they were able to kill poisonous snakes and eat them. Poison turns into food. In the Middle East, the Kurdish  Jezidis (Muslims called them devil worshippers ) venerated peacock as Melek Taus (King peacock) . They see it as messenger of God.

In Muslim symbolism, it is Cosmos or Sun or Moon. In early Christianity it symbolised resurrection.

The Christians preserved an ancient superstition that peacock blood dispelled evil spirits. The bird is shown in Christ’s Nativity scenes.

Two peacocks drinking from a chalice symbolize spiritual rebirth and Cherubim often have four wings consisting of peacock feathers. Their eyes were symbols of divine omniscience. The flesh of the bird was long thought of as an ideal restorative meal for the sick.

Charaka Samhita prescribed flesh of peacock for certain diseases. Emperor Asoka instructed to cut down the number of  peacocks to be cooked everyday in his palace kitchen.

Under the influence of Hindus , where goddess Sarasvati and Subrahmanya ride on peacocks, the bird was viewed favourably in China .

The peacock- kung- chiao-  was the embodiment of beauty and dignity, able to dispel evil spirits, and dancing when its gaze fell upon a beautiful woman.

Peacock feathers were symbols of rank for the Manchu emperors and were displayed in vases.   Peacocks were kept in the traditional Chinese garden.

In alchemy it was used in turning base metals into gold.

In Heraldry also it is used as symbol of glory. Manu smrti and other Hindu law books prescribed peacock flesh for the departed souls in the Sradhdha ceremonies.

Throughout Sanskrit and Tamil literature, the hair of the women and her beauty are compared with peacock. Tamil poems describe how they dance just before the rains

Tamils used the words Mayil, Manjnai and Tokai for peacock.

Lord Krishna is always shown with peacock feathers on his crown. The peacock dynasty scared Alexander and he turned back towards Greece from Punjab. A brahmin by name Chanakya/Kautilya who was offended by Shudra Nanda kings sponsored a person from Mura community and established the most powerful Mauryan/Peacock  Dynasty in India 2400 years ago. They were even mentioned by Sangam Tamil poets (See Mamulanar Poem).

Hindu’s sacred bird peacock is found in Mitannian (1400 BCE) and the mysterious Yazidi  culture of Iraq’s marsh lands. In India it is the vehicle of Goddess Sarasvati and Subrahmnya. Mahabharata character Sikhandi’s meaning is peacock.

Peacock is associated with Gods and Goddesses around the world. Even Khonds and Bhils , aborigenes and tribes venerated the bird. In Greek it is called  TAOS and in Latin it is called PAVUS. Taos is the one linked to India. In Sanskrit  it is called SIKHI by Kalidas and others.

Latin word Pavus or Pava cannot be easily traced to Tamil or Sanskrit.

Sikhi becomes Tuki or Taos or Tahos in Greek

Many people don’t know the Sanskrit word Sikhi and Sikhandi for peacock and linked it with TOKAI in Tamil.

T becomes S in many Tamil and English words.

Tion= Sion

Thaanai in Tamil Sena in Sanskrit.

In colloquial Tamil also it is Th= Ch

Padiththaan = Padichchaan (read)  in spoken Tamil

Kadiththaan = Kadichchan  (bitten) in spoken Tamil

Sikhi is found in Meghaduta of Kalidasa of First century BCE. Great Sanskrit scholars place Kalidasa in the first or second century BCE. 200 of his 1500 similes are used by Tamil Sangam poets.

A Kalyanaraman in his book Aryatarangini says about Indus valley pottery:-

“The discovery of the lotus and the peacock design on the pottery , strengthens the case for considering the Indus Valley culture to be Aryan.  Indian archaeologists now believe that the bird motifs on the burial urns corresponds to Vedic theories of the journey of the human soul towards the heaven.(See Kural 338) .  Bhagavad Gita says soul leaving body  is like a person discarding the worn out clothes (BG 2-22).

Tokai for Peacock is used less in Tamil than other two words Mayil and Manjnai. Peacock is associated with Lord Skanda /Murugan in North Indian coins before Sangam Tamil literature. We see Six Faces in Yadheya coins. Later we find it in Sangam Tamil literature. Tamil Murugan is not different from Northern Skanda/ Kartikeya. All the features are same except Valli, a Tamil woman in addition to Deva sena. It is a localised tradition like Andal and Rajamannar/Vishnu. Tuki or Taos in Greek is not Tokai, but Sikhi which  is found earlier than Tamil. More oover most of the words found in Greek are derived from Sanskrit.

Peacock in Turkey/ Syria

Satya Swarup Mishra in his book ‘The Aryan Problem – A Linguistic Approach’ says,

“Linguistic evidence in Anatolian is shown above clearly stamps the borrowed element to be of Indo- Aryan origin. In addition to it there is clearly archaeological evidence to show the influence of Indo Aryan on the Mitannians . This evidence is that of peacock.

PEACOCK is an Indian bird. Peacock evidence is a clear proof for movement of Hindus from India into that area, where they have influenced. Burrow’s theory of a third group beside Indo- Aryans and Iranians based on his guess work is fully outweighed by his archaeological evidence.

(Murv = Mayura= Mor in Hindi)

Credit of this evidence of peacock goes to B.Brentjes, who in his paper has discussed the details in great length. Some salient portions may be quoted here.

PICTURE OF PEACOCK HAMMER

“But there is one element novel to Iraq in Mitannian culture and art, which is later on observed in Iranian culture until Islamization of Iran: the peacock, one of the two elements of the ‘Sen-murv’, the lion peacock of the Sassanian art. The first clear pictures showing peacocks in religious context in Mesopotamia are the Nuzi cylinder seals of Mitannian times….

There are two types of peacocks: the griffin with a peacock head and the peacock-dancer, masked and standing beside the holy tree of life. The veneration of the peacock could not have been brought by Mitannians from Central Asia or South Eastern Europe, they must have taken it from the East, as peacocks are the types of bird of India and the peacock dancers are still to be seen all over India. The earliest examples are known from the Harappan culture, from Mohanjo-daro and Harappa: two birds sitting on either side of the  first tree of life  are painted on ceramics. In Iraq the bird was demonised at least since the Mittannians.

The religious role of peacock in India and the Indian influenced Buddhist art in China and Japan need not be questioned…..

It is even possible to trace the peacock as the animal of the battle in Elam till the late third millennium BCE- if it is possible to identify two figured poles  from Susa with peacock symbols (see the picture)  one is a little hammer with two bird heads and a tail with peacock eyes; the other is the oldest proto-Senmurv, a pale stave with a lion head and a peacock tail. The date of the first one is given by a Sulgi inscription on it. So we shall not err if we identify the griffin of the Mitannian seals as fore runner of the Senmurv (lion- peacock.

The second form of peacock veneration by the Mitannians had a long history too.

To be continued …………………………………………..

(INDEX OF VEDIC POETS AND POEMS)
