 All of us look at sun and moon going into sea or coming out of sea if you live in a coastal area. In Kanyakumari , the southernmost tip of India, tourists throng to see such memorable scene. We were waiting for an hour to see the sun disappearing/setting in Santorini island in Greece. Unless you go well in advance you wouldn’t get a vantage point to watch it. Vedic rishsis/seers were all over India and they speak about hills and vales, rivers and oceans, stars and planets and sun and moon.

All of us watch the full moon and sun; but only a Vedic seer described it beautifully in a poem. He gave free rein to his imagination. Sun and moon as two youngsters are playing by hiding in sea and coming out of it!! In other words, played Hide and Seek game. As children all of us have played hide and seek. Parents do play this game with their children But look at what a Vedic seer say about it:-

HYMN LXXXI; AV; BOOK 7; SUKTA 396

A hymn to the New Moon

1.Forward and backward by their wondrous power move these
   two youths, disporting, round the ocean.
  One views all living things, and thou, the other, art born again
   arranging times and seasons.


2.Thou art re-born for ever new: thou marchest, ensign of days,
   in forefront of the mornings.
  Marching thou dealest to the Gods their portion. Thou lengthe-
   nest, Moon! the days of man’s existence.


3.O spray of Soma, Lord of Wars! all-perfect verily art thou.
  Make me all-perfect, Beauteous One! in riches and in progeny.


4.Thou art the New Moon, fair to see, thou art complete in every
   part.
  May I be perfect, fully blest in every way in steeds and kine, in
   children, cattle, home, and wealth.


5.Inflate thee with his vital breath who hathes us and whom we
   detest.
  May we grow rich in steeds and kine, in children, cattle, houses,
   wealth.


5.With that unwasting stalk which Gods, unwasting Gods, in-
   crease and eat, p. a307
  May Varuna, Brihaspati, and Indra, the Lords and Guardians of
   the world, increase us.

PUN ON WORDS

FOREIGN GANG UNDER MAX MULLER GOT CONFUSED IN TRANSLATING AND INTERPRETING VEDAS.

The reason being they started translating them to denigrate or belittle Hinduism.

They did not believe in what Hindus believed. Moreover, they believed a faith which has quite opposite views.

Above all, those idiots wrote from foreign soil. Though a few people like Ralph T H Griffith lived in India, they did not practise Hinduism. Unless you practise something you wouldn’t know the intricacies, significance and the symbolic meanings in such things. Max Muller never visited India. Max Muller gang never watched anything Hindu. May be,  he may have seen some pictures.

Vedic rishis sing and dance saying we love talking in mysterious language; coded language; symbolic language. They just use numbers and leave it for your interpretation. Many thousand years after Vedic seers, Tamil Siddhas used that symbolic language. I have never seen such poems in any other language in the world. The number f poems with NUMBERS are enormous in the Rig Veda, the oldest book in the world, dated between 4000 BCE and 1500 BCE.

There is another difficulty in translating or interpreting Vedas. Several words, used quite often, have two or three meanings. Vedic rishis enjoyed pun on words like SINDHU, PASU, AYAS, MANU, SOMA, SEA/SKY, SARASVATI, INDRA, SHIP, ASVA etc

Actually we also do use such words with double meaning; every language has it. But one who is in the field, knows what one wants to say in a particular circumstance.

MY COMMENTS

Here is my comment. Two youths are playing in the sea. Both sea and sky are blue in colour. So foreigners translated all seas as sky in the Vedas. That is a blunder. In this sukta also they did it. They say that two youths are playing in the sky. But it would make better sense if you imagine the real sea. Youths do this in village ponds and wells. They do play hide and seek in water and on the ground. One must underline the words

Forward and backward by their wondrous power move these
   two youths, disporting, round the ocean.
  One views all living things, and thou, the other, art born again
   arranging times and seasons.

Stanza /Mantra 1

The footnote says it is already in the Rig Veda 10-85-18

Most of the Atharvana Veda poems are taken from the oldest book in the world Rig Veda and presented with some minor changes. I don’t know why they did it.

Stanza /Mantra 2

Here is a beautiful description. Moon is described as the FLAG of the day. It announces the arrival of sun and disappears/sets. Hindus invented FLAG. It is in Harappan seal. Flags are in Ramayana and Mahabharata. Even today if you go to Tamil Nadu you can see the carriers of flags and other symbols go first, followed by drums on bulls, elephant and camels. Vedic pundits reciting Vedas also are part of the procession. Those who have not seen such things, couldn’t interpret Vedas properly. In North India, all such things gone into oblivion because of continuous foreign attacks from outside India.

There is another important statement in mantra two- YOU/moon LENGHTHEN THE DAYS OF MAN’S EXISTENCE.

This is a scientific matter which neither Russian nor American scientists have found yet. Throughout the Vedas, Moon is associated with plants’ growth. Soma stands for Moon and Soma herb. Mysterious properties of Soma plant are described all over the Vedas.

In Bhagavad Gita 9-20, Lord Krishna says

Those who drink Soma juice are cleansed of sin. By drinking the juice in fire sacrifices they go to heaven.

Greatest of the modern Tamil poets, Subrahmanya Bharati also praised Soma juice in two verses.

Dalavaipuram Copper Plates of Pandya Parantaka Veera Narayanan of 9th century CE praised ‘Manosuddha Somabana Kataka Soma Yaji’. One who drinks the Soma Juice is purified in Mind. It is an elixir which elevates you spiritually.

 Kanchi Paramacharya in his Vijaya Yatra book says those who do Soma Yaga (Fire sacrifice) are given white umbrella. Sanskrit literature and later Sangam Tamil literature also show white umbrella are held only by emperors.

Now I wonder the Soma here means the herb Soma or the Moon Soma. Moon associated with growth is yet to be confirmed by science. Seeing moon immediately after new moon day and full moon day are considered holy. If one sees 1000 such full moons then it leads to a great celebration.

Foreigners don’t know a thing about this Great Hindu ceremony known as Sahasra Chandra/Soma Darsana Ceremony.

Words can’t explain the kind of bliss that thousands of devotees witnessed during the last day of Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshana Shanthi Mahotsavam.

Apart from the many thousands, there were many Swami ji’s belonging to various temples, spiritual organisations and Institutions. The atmosphere was totally Divine and why not – it was the day to thank the DIVINE for coming to His world, and witnessing 1000 full moons in this BODY.

Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Sarasvathi attended the event along with other Heads of Mutts.

In short, moon is associated with growth and longevity.

Mantra 3

Here moon is linked with soma herb.

Lord of War is Moon! In all cultures planet Mars is associated with war. The colour of the planet is also blood red. But here, moon is called God of War! The footnote adds “probably because the first quarter of the moon was considered a favourable time for predatory excursions”.

But I think moon is associated with mind according to Vedas (RV.10-90). Next mantra is also about the tidal force

(High tides and low tides are caused by the moon. The moon’s gravitational pull generates something called the tidal force. The tidal force causes Earth—and its water—to bulge out on the side closest to the moon and the side farthest from the moon. These bulges of water are high tides.)

Mantra 4

Special fire sacrifices are done on New Moon and Full Moon days. Goddesses Anumati and Raka are worshipped by Vedic Hindus. And the Yagas are called Darsa purnamasa. New moon day called Amavasya is also important. Some people start the Hindu month from Amvasya . Here First seen is Amavasya. And then the seer prays for children,  cattle, horse, house and wealth it made more sense when they did special sacrifices. but later they left the fire sacrifice and started Purnima Puja. It is very popular among Devi worshippers. They do Pur nami puja with flowers and offer cooked Prasad. (I have seen it performed by Swamiji Krishna of Ayakkudi near Tenkasi)

New  moon is described as ‘complete’. For Hindus it is a complete day. They start new ventures on New Moon day.

Mantra 5

Here the seer asks the moon to bulge, surge. We know it happens on both full moon and new moon days. It disturbs people who are already suffering from mental health problems. And the argument is human body contains 70 percent water like earth. So the moon affects humans as well, particularly on Full moon and New moon days.

Here also the seer prays for all good things.

Mantra 6

Now there is a clear reference to Soma juice and its effect on Devas/ heavenly people. Like gods we must also increase/ grow prays the mantra. In short give us growth

The important thing is previous two mantras are also about Full moon and New moon days.

So it is better to look at them together. (I am giving them separately)

ஷீர்டி சாயிபாபா! – 1

அன்பார்ந்த தமிழ் நெஞ்சங்களே சந்தானம் நாகராஜன் வணக்கம். நமஸ்காரம்.

பாரதம் கண்ட அற்புத மகான்களின் வரிசையில் ஷீர்டி சாயிபாபாவின் பெயர் தனி இடத்தைப் பெறுகிறது.

ஏனெனில் ஹிந்துக்களுக்கும் இஸ்லாமியருக்கும் அவர் பெரும் வழிகாட்டியாக, மகானாக, அருளாளராக விளங்கினார். மஹராஷ்டிரத்தில் பாத்ரி என்று ஒரு கிராமம். அங்கே கங்கா பாவத்யா, தேவகிரியம்மா என்ற தம்பதிகள் வசித்து வந்தனர். சிறந்த சிவ பக்தர்களான அவர்களுக்குக் குழந்தை பிறக்கவில்லை. ஒரு நாள் கங்கா பாவத்யா வெளியில் சென்றிருந்த போது ஒரு முதியவர் வீட்டின் கதவைத் தட்டி, “மழை அதிகமாக இருக்கிறது. இன்று இரவு மட்டும் இங்கு தங்குகிறேன்” என்றார். தேவகிரியம்மா சம்மதித்தார். திண்ணையில் அவர் படுத்தார். சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து கதவைத் தட்டி உணவு கேட்டார். தேவகிரியம்மாவும் உடனே தந்தார். அடுத்து சில நிமிடங்களில் மீண்டும் கதவு தட்டப்பட்டது. வந்த முதியவர் என் கால்கள் வலிக்கின்றன. அமுக்கி விட வேண்டும் என்றார். குழப்பத்தில் ஆழ்ந்தார் தேவகிரியம்மா. என்ன செய்வதென்று தெரியாமல் இருந்த சமயம் கதவு தட்டப்பட ஒரு பெண்மணி நின்றிருந்தார். நான் கால்களைப் பிடித்து விடலாமா, இந்த முதியவருக்கு என்று கேட்டார் அவர். சந்தோஷமாக சரி என்றார் தேவகிரியம்மா. அடுத்து சில நிமிடங்களில் மீண்டும் கதவு தட்டப்பட்டது. கதவைத் திறந்த தேவகிரியம்மாவுக்கு மெய் சிலிர்த்தது.வந்த முதியவரும் பெண்மணியும் அங்கு இல்லை. பார்வதி பரமேஸ்வரன் காட்சி தந்தனர்.

“உனக்கு மூன்று குழந்தைகள் பிறக்கும்.மூன்றாவதாக நானே வந்து பிறப்பேன்”

என்று கூறி அருள் பாலித்தார் சிவபிரான்.அப்படியே நடந்தது. நிறைமாத கர்ப்பிணியாக தேவகிரியம்மா இருந்த போது சிவபிரான் தனக்கும் தரிசனம் தர வேண்டுமென்று கங்கா பாவத்யா காடு மேடுகளில் அலைய ஆரம்பித்தார். அவரைப் பின் தொடர்ந்து சென்ற தேவகிரியம்மா ஒரு ஆண் குழந்தையைப் பெற்றாள். ஆனால் கங்கா முன்னால் சென்று கொண்டே இருக்கவே, குழந்தையை இலைகளின் மீது வைத்துச் சென்றார் தேவ்கிரியம்மா. அந்தக் குழந்தையை ஒரு முஸ்லீம் பக்கீர் எடுத்து தன் கிராமமான மன்வாத்தில் வளர்க்கலானார். பின்னர் குழந்தை வளர்ந்து சிறுவனான போது, அந்தச் சிறுவனை வெங்குசா என்பவரிடம் கொடுத்தார்.

சாயிபாபா 1838ஆம் ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் மாதம் 28ஆம் தேதி பிறந்தார். 1918ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் மாதம் 15ஆம் தேதியன்று சமாதி எய்தினார்.

இடைப்பட்ட 80 ஆண்டு காலத்தில் உலகில் அவர் நிகழ்த்திய லீலைகள் ஏராளம்.

16ஆம் வயதில் அவரது அருள் சக்திகள் வெளி உலகிற்குத் தெரிய ஆரம்பித்தது. அவர் மீது செங்கல்லை விட்டு ஒருவன் எறிய அது அப்படியே அந்தரத்தில் நின்றது.

இதைத் தொடர்ந்து, அவரை அணுகி நூற்றுக் கணக்கானவர்கள் வந்து அருளாசி பெறலாயினர்.

அவரது பெயர் எப்படி ஸாயிபாபா ஆனது? இதற்கு பி.வி.நரசிம்மஸ்வாமி ஒரு விளக்கம் தருகிறார்.

ஸாயின் என்ற பாரசீக வார்த்தைக்கு ‘ஸ்வாமி’ என்று பொருள். பாபா என்ற ஹிந்தி வார்த்தைக்கு அப்பா என்று பொருள். ஆகையால் ஸாயிபாபா என்றால் அன்பிற்குரிய  ஒரு ஸ்வாமி அல்லது யதி என்று அர்த்தமாகிறது.

      ஸாயிபாபாவின் குரு யார் என்பது யாருக்கும் தெரியாது. ஒரு நாள் ராதாபாய் தேஷ்முகீன் என்ற பெண்மணி பாபாவிடம் தனக்கு ஒரு மந்திரத்தை உபதேசிக்குமாறு வேண்டி வற்புறுத்தினாள்.அவரோ அதை ஏற்கவில்லை. உடனே அந்தப் பெண்மணி உபதேசிக்கவில்லை என்றால் அன்ன ஆகாரமின்றி உயிரை விட்டு விடுவேன் என்றாள். இதைக் கேட்டு உருகிய பாபா தன்னைப் பற்றி அவளிடம் சொன்னார்.

“நான் பன்னிரெண்டு வருஷ காலம் என் குருவிடம் பாத சேவை செய்தேன். அவரைப் போல ஒரு கருணாநிதியைக் காண முடியாது. அவர் எனக்கு எந்த வித உபதேசமும் செய்யவில்லை. அவர் தனது கடாக்ஷ வீக்ஷண்யத்தால் என்னைக் காப்பாற்றி வந்தார்.குருவிடம் அனன்ய சிந்தை செய்தால் அவரையே பரமார்த்தம் என்று எண்ணினால் அதுவே போதும்” என்று கூறினார்.

வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் பக்தர்களுக்கு அவர் அருளிய வார்த்தைகள் இரண்டே இரண்டு தான். ஒன்று சிரத்தா இன்னொறு சபூரி. அதாவது சிரத்தையும் பொறுமையும், அவ்வளவு தான்! ‘நானிருக்க பயமேன்’ என்பது அவரது அபய வாக்கு!

“உலகில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பேர் இருக்கிறார்கள். நானா, உன்னை மட்டும் ஏன் அழைத்தேன் தெரியுமா, நீயும் நானும் சென்ற நான்கு ஜென்மங்களாக நெருங்கி இருந்து வருகிறோம். உனக்கு அது தெரியாது. எனக்குத் தெரியும்”  என்று அணுக்க பக்தரான நானாவிடம் ஒரு முறை அவர் கூறினார்.

இப்படி தனக்கும் பக்தர்களுக்கும் உள்ள நெருங்கிய உறவை ருணானுபந்தம் என்று அவர் கூறுவார்.

ஒரு நாள் காலை 8 மணி. பாபா ரஹதா நதிக்கரையோரம் அமர்ந்திருக்க வழிப்போக்கன் ஒருவர் அவரிடம் வந்து அமர்ந்தார் தனது வீட்டிற்கு வந்து உணவருந்த வேண்டும் என்று வேண்டிக் கொண்டார். அப்போது தவளை ஒன்றின் ஓலக் குரல் கேட்டது. வந்த வழிப்போக்கரை அந்தக் குரல் வந்த திசையில் போகச் சொன்னார் பாபா. அங்கு ஒரு பாம்பு தவளை ஒன்றைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் பார் என்றார். வழிப்போக்கர் அந்த திசையில் சென்று பார்க்க ஒரு பெரிய பாம்பு ஒன்று தவளையை விழுங்க முயல்வதைப் பார்த்த அவர் ஒடி வந்து இன்னும் பத்து இருபது நிமிடங்களில் எல்லாம் முடிந்து விடும். தவளையை கரும்பாம்பு விழுங்கி விடும் என்றார்.

பாபாவோ, “ நானே அதன் தந்தை. அப்படி சாக விட்டுவிடுவேனா” என்று கூறி விட்டு அந்த பாம்பு இருந்த இடத்திற்குச் சென்று கூவினார்:

“ஹே, வீரபத்ரப்பா, இன்னும் கூட உன் எதிரி பசப்பா மீது உனக்கு இரக்கம் வரவில்லையா? இப்படிச் செய்ய நீ வெட்கப்பட வேண்டும்” என்றார்.

       உடனே பாம்பு தவளையை விட்டு விட்டுச் சென்று மறைந்தது.

     வழிப்போக்கர் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு வீரபத்ரப்பாவின் கதையைக் கேட்க,  வீரபத்ரப்பாவுக்கும் பஸப்பாவிற்கும் சென்ற ஜென்மத்தில் நடந்த சண்டையை விரிவாக எடுத்துரைத்தார் பாபா. தனது சொற்களைக் கேட்டு வெட்கப்பட்டு வீரபத்ரப்பா விலகி ஓடியதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

இன்னொரு முறை ஒரு ஆட்டுக்குட்டியை அன்போது அணைத்துக் கொண்டார். அது அவரது பழைய சிஷ்யன். தன் அன்பைத் தெரிவித்து ஆசி தந்தார். எத்தனை ஜென்மமானாலும் உங்களைக் கை விட மாட்டேன் என்பது அவர் பக்தர்களுக்கு ஆறுதல் அளிக்கிறார். இது தான் பந்தத்தினால் ஏற்பட்ட கடன் – இதுவே ருணானுபந்தம் என்றார் அவர்.

There is a very interesting poem/hymn on house, house warming and a traveller in the Atharvana Veda. This fourth Veda contains poems and statements on various subjects. One would be amazed to see that the Vedic seers have sung such poems in Sanskrit on various themes before Greek, Tamil Hebrew, Chinese , Persian and Latin literature appeared on the horizon. Though we have Old Testament , Zend Avesta and fragments of Chinese and old Greek matter on certain things none of them is dated before 1000 BCE, the date given to Atharvana Veda (AV) even by the conservative foreigners who translated Vedas.

Since most of the foreigners have no first-hand knowledge of Hindu way of life, their translation and interpretation are not correct. Moreover, they looked at them with a critical eye rather than appreciative.

I have given Ralph TH Griffith’s translation here. If we   compare it with Tamil poet Bharati’s poem on House, who was well versed in Vedic literature it would bring out the meaning in a better light. Bharati has appreciated all that is in the Vedas and asked every one to beat the Vedic drum so that it would roar in all the eight directions on earth.

What are the words we find in AV hymn?

Delightful Houses, Rich in Power, Glad and Joyful,

Store of Milk, Replete with Wealth, Standing firm, Dwellers with Friendly Heart, Delightful Sweets, Friends, Freedom from Hunger, Freedom from Thirst, Kind Greetings, Cattle, Food, Peasant Drink, Full of Refreshment, Full of Charms, Full of Laughter, Full of Felicity, Ever free from Hunger, Ever free from Thirst, Happy Fortune, Abundant Growth

In one sentence A Heaven where there is happiness,food and water.

Even if you are asked to give a speech at a House Warming Party or Inauguration of a New Housing Block in your city, you may not remember all these positive words.

It is amazing to see that one community in the world known as Brahmins have passed them from one generation to another for thousands of years! One must be grateful to them for ever and it is Hindu’s duty to carry these positive thoughts to generations to come.

A parting traveller’s address to the houses of his village

1.I, prudent, bringing power, a treasure-winner, with amicable
   eye that strikes no terror,
  Come, praising and kind-thoughted, to these houses: be not
   afraid of me, be glad and joyful.


2.Let these delightful Houses that are rich in power and store of
   milk,
  Replete with wealth and standing firm, become aware of our
   approach.


3.These Houses we invoke, whereon the distant exile sets his
   thought, p. a296
  Wherein dwells many a friendly heart: let them beware of our
   approach.


4.Thus greeted, ye of ample wealth, friends who enjoy delightful
   sweets.
  Be ever free from hunger, free from thirst! Ye Houses, fear us
   not.


5.Kind greeting to the cattle here, kind greeting to the goats and
   sheep!
  Then, of the food within our homes, kind greeting to the plea-
   sant drink!

This poem is interpreted in two ways.

The footnote says – The hymn is used as a charm to inaugurate the construction of a house and on starting a journey.

But I would interpret it as a House Warming Speech and saying Good Bye to visitors who travelled long way to attend the Grahap Pravesa Ceremony (HOUSE ENTERING CEREMONY)

Tamil Poem by  Poet Bharati; Translated into English

A Plot of Land

1.A plot of land – Parasakti

A plot of land I beg to thee;

With pillars beautiful and bright

And rising stories gleaming white

Build thou for me a castle there ;

May coconut  trees wave their green leaves fair,

And their delicious milk supply

While springs refreshing gurgle by .

2. Gren coconut trees, these do I require

Some ten or twelve beside me there;

And like a soft and pearly shower

Bright moonbeams send thou me, (Great Power)

And cause within my ears to fall

The distant cuckoo’s gentle call ;

Do thou send me evening breeze

That softly fans, my heart to please.

3.A faithful wife give thou to me ,

In all my songs to mingle free;

And bring us poetry divine,

That our delights it may refine;

In that most solitary space

Great Mother guard us with thy grace

And grant that my gift of song

My sceptre over the world be strong

Though it is not a word by word translation we get the exact meaning.

In short, a house where one will have happiness and water and milk/food in plenty.

So the Vedic thoughts are echoed in this poem, though it came many thousand years after the Vedic seers. I have underlined the words to highlight the same positive thoughts found in the AV.

My Comments:–

Only a Hindu would understand it!

A Hindu’s House Entering Ceremony known as ‘Gruha Pravesam’ consists of several rituals:-

He has to consult an astrologer or a priest to choose an auspicious day and auspicious time.

The family enters the house using their right foot first .

The house is decorated with Rangolis/Kolam with auspicious signs.

The house has festoons with Mango leaves, Banana Plants and other auspicious flowers.

An oil lamp in front of God’s pictures is lighted by the women folk, who is married and living with her husband.

A cow is asked to enter the house first. Its dung and urine are considered very auspicious.

If anyone is interested in rituals, they hire a priest and he recites mantras for purification with water.

In all auspicious Hindu ceremonies Hindu women make Palikai, i.e. a certain number of pots filled with grains/seeds are sprinkled with water. When they grow and the little seedlings come out, they are taken to the river or village pond or well, they are dissolved there.  This is how the propagation of plants  was done in the olden days.

In South India, coconut, arecanut, betel leaves are available in plenty and they are also used .

Also note that neither the Vedic Rishi/seer nor Bharati was greedy; they say what is needed for a small family.

இயல்பாய் இரும்பூளை இடம் கொண்ட ஈசன்

முயல்வார் இருவர்க்கு எரி ஆகிய மொய்ம்பே

திருஞானசம்பந்தர் திருவடி போற்றி!

ஆலயம் அறிவோம்! வழங்குவது பிரஹன்நாயகி சத்யநாராயணன்.  

  ஆலயம் அறிவோம் தொடரில் இன்று நமது யாத்திரையில் இடம் பெறுவது  நவகிரகங்களில் தெய்வீக அறிவுக்கும் ஞானத்திற்கும் அதிபதியான குரு பகவானின் சிறப்புத் தலமும் பஞ்ச ஆரண்ய ஸ்தலங்களில் ஒன்றாக அமைவதுமான திரு இரும்பூளை எனப்படும் ஆலங்குடி திருத்தலம் ஆகும். தமிழகத்தில், கும்பகோணத்திற்கு தெற்கே 17 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் இது அமைந்துள்ளது.

இறைவனின் திருநாமம் : ஸ்ரீ காசி ஆரண்யேஸ்வரர், ஆபத்சகாயர்

அம்மன் : ஏலவார்குழலி      ஸ்தல வ்ருக்ஷம் : பூளைச் செடி       

தீர்த்தம் : அமிர்த புஷ்கரணி   விசேஷ மூர்த்தி: குரு தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்தி

விநாயகர் : கலங்காமல் காத்த விநாயகர்

இத்தலத்தில் ப்ரம்ம தீர்த்தம், லக்ஷ்மி தீர்த்தம் இந்திர தீர்த்தம், அக்னி தீர்த்தம், யம தீர்த்தம் உள்ளிட்ட 16 தீர்த்தங்கள் உள்ளன.

இத்தலத்தைப் பற்றிய புராண வரலாறுகள் பல உண்டு. பாற்கடலை கடைந்த  போது ஆலகால விஷம் உருவாகவே அதைக் கண்டு தேவர்கள் அஞ்சி நடுங்கினர். சிவபிரான் தன் தோழராகிய சுந்தரரைக் கொண்டு விஷத்தைக் கொண்டு வரச் செய்து அதைக் குடித்து தன் கண்டத்தில் அடக்கினார். அதனால் இத்தலம் ஆலங்குடி என்னும் பெயரைப் பெற்றது. இறைவன் ஆபத்சகாயர் என்னும் திருப்பெயரைப் பெற்றார். இங்கு விஷம் தீண்டி யாரும் இறப்பது கிடையாது.

இங்குள்ள விநாயகருக்கு ஒரு தனிச் சிறப்பு உண்டு. கஜமுகாசுரனால் தேவர்களுக்கு நேர்ந்த இடர்களைக் களைந்து அவர்களைக் காத்தமையால் இவர் கலங்காமல் காத்த விநாயகர் என்ற திருப்பெயரால் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.

உமாதேவி தவம் செய்து இறைவனைத் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்ட தலம் இது.

ஒரு முறை கைலாயத்தில் பார்வதி தேவி தனது தோழிகளுடன் பந்தாடிக் கொண்டிருந்த சமயம், உயரப்போன பந்தைப் பிடிக்க கையை உயரத் தூக்கவே வானவீதியில் வலம் வந்து கொண்டிருந்த சூரியன் தன்னைப் பார்த்துத் தான், அம்பிகை நிற்கச் சொல்வதாகக் கருதி நின்றான். அதனால் அவன் தொழில் தடைப்பட்டு உலகம் ஸ்தம்பித்தது. அவன் சிவபிரானிடம் முறையிடவே அவரிட்ட சாபத்தின் காரணமாக அம்பிகை பூலோகத்தில் காசி ஆரண்ய தலமான இத்தலத்தில் அவதரித்து தவம் செய்து சிவபிரானைத் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டார். திருமணம் நடந்த இடம் இன்று திருமண மங்கலம் என்ற பெயரால் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. அம்பாளின் திருமணத்திற்கு வந்த திருமால், பிரம்மா, லக்ஷ்மி, கருடன், அஷ்டதிக் பாலகர்கள், ஐயனார் வீரபத்திரர் முதலானோர் தம் தம் பெயரால் லிங்கங்களை நிறுவி இங்கு வழிபட்டனர். முசுகுந்த சக்ரவர்த்தி, சுவாசனன், திருஞானசம்பந்தர், சுந்தரர் உள்ளிட்டோர் வந்து வழிபட்ட தலம் இது.

முசுகுந்த சக்ரவர்த்தியைப் பற்றிய ஒரு வரலாறும் இத்தலம் பற்றி உண்டு. முசுகுந்த சக்ரவர்த்தி தன் மந்திரியும் சிறந்த சிவபக்தருமான அமுதோகர் என்பவருடைய சிவ புண்யத்தில் பாதியையாவது தருமாறு வேண்டினார். அவரோ மறுத்தார். இதனால் வெகுண்ட மன்னன் அவர் தலையை வெட்டும் படி உத்தரவிட்டான். கொலை செய்ய வந்தவர்கள் வாளை எடுத்தவுடன் சிவபிரானின் ஆணையால் அவர்கள் உயிர் அக்கணமே நீங்கியது. உடனே அமுதோகர் என்ற சப்தம் எங்கும் ஒலிக்க ஆரம்பித்தது. அரசன் வியந்தான். தான் செய்த தவறை உணர்ந்தான். அபசாரம் நீங்க இத்தலத்தில் வந்து வழிபட்டு பாவம் நீங்கப் பெற்றான்.

கோவில் ஊரின் நடுவே, நான்கு புறமும், தாமரை பூத்திருக்கும் அகழி சூழ, உயரமான மதில்களுடன் அமைந்துள்ளது. ஐந்து நிலை ராஜகோபுரம் கொண்ட கோவிலில் உள்ளே பிரவேசித்ததும் கலங்காமல் காத்த விநாயகர் மேலக்குடவறையில் அமைந்து காட்சி அளிக்கிறார். எதிரே உள்ள முதல் பிரகாரத்தில்  அம்பாளின் சந்நிதி தெற்கு நோக்கி அமைந்துள்ளது. மஹாமண்டப வாயிலில் கர்பக்ருஹத்தில் கிழக்கு நோக்கி ஆபத்சகாயர் காட்சி தந்து அருள் பாலிக்கிறார். இத்தலத்தின் சிறப்பு மூர்த்தியாகிய குரு தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்தி தெற்கு கோஷ்டத்தில் அமைந்து தரிசனம் தந்து அருள் பாலிக்கிறார்.

குரு பார்த்தால் கோடி நன்மை என்ற பழமொழியே குருவின் பெருமையை நன்கு உணர்த்தும். அந்தணர், பசுக்களுக்கு அதிபதி குரு. உடலில் சதை இவர். வடக்கு திசை குருவிற்கு உரியது. பிரம்மன் இவருக்கு அதி தேவதை. இந்திரன் ப்ரத்யதி தேவதை. புஷ்பராகம் குருவிற்கு உகந்த ரத்தினம். தனுர், மீன ராசிகளுக்கு அதிபதி குரு. மஞ்சள் நிறத்திற்கு உரியவர். கடலை தானியமும் முல்லை மலரும் அரசு சமித்தும் இவருக்கு உகந்தவை.

இத்தலத்தில் திருஞானசம்பந்தர் ஒரு பதிகம் பாடி அருளியுள்ளார்.

காலம் காலமாக ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள்பாலித்து வரும் ஏலவார் குழலியும் காசி ஆரண்யேஸ்வரரும், குரு பகவானும் அனைவருக்கும் சர்வ மங்களத்தைத் தர ஞானமயம் சார்பில் பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம்.  

          தேவானாஞ் ச ரிஷீணாஞ் ச குரும் காஞ்சந ஸந்நிபம்

புத்திபூதம் த்ரிலோகேசம் தம் நமாமி ப்ருஹஸ்பதிம்|

தேவர்களுக்கும் ரிஷிகளுக்கும் ஆசாரியன். பொன்னன். மூவுலகங்களின் புத்தி சக்தியாக விளங்குபவன். அந்த பிரஹஸ்பதியை நமஸ்கரிக்கிறேன்.

ச.நாகராஜன் எழுதியுள்ள சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழல் சிந்தனைகள் பற்றிய பத்து உரைகள் ஆல் இந்தியா ரேடியே சென்னை வானொலி A அலைவரிசையில் (720 Hz) தினமும் காலை 6.55 (மாநிலச் செய்திகள் முடிந்த பின்னர்) 11-11-2021 அன்று தொடங்கி 20-11-21 அன்று முடிய ஒலிபரப்பாகி வந்தது.

20-11-2021 காலை ஒலிபரப்பான பத்தாவது கடைசி உரை கீழே தரப்படுகிறது. 

சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழலைக் காப்பதற்கு ஒவ்வொருவரும் உதவலாம்!

ஒரு இல்லத்தரசியாகவோ அல்லது ஒரு குடும்பத் தலைவராகவோ இருக்கும் ஒருவர் சுற்றுப்புறச்சூழலைக் காக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்தைக் கொண்டிருந்தாலும், ‘என்னால் என்ன செய்ய முடியும்’ என்று நினைத்து மனம் தளர வேண்டிய அவசியமே இல்லை. ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டிலிருந்தும் இந்த நற்பணியை நாம் தொடங்கலாம்.

முதலில் குப்பை கூளங்களை அகற்றும் போது காய்கறி மற்றும் உணவுப் பொருள் கழிவுகள், மின்சாதனக் கழிவுகள், ‘டயபர்’ (Diaper) போன்ற கழிவுகளைத் தனித் தனியே பிரித்து அததற்குரிய கழிவுத் தொட்டிகளில் போடுதல் வேண்டும்.

வீட்டில் மின்சக்தியை சேமிப்பதோடு மின் பில்லையும் (BILL)  குறைக்கும் வகையில்  இன்காண்டெஸ்சென்ட் (Incandescent) பல்புகளை அறவே அகற்றி விட்டு CFC எனப்படும் காம்பாக்ட் ப்ளோரெஸெண்ட் விளக்குகளைப் பொருத்தினால் 35000 மணி நேரம் அதிக பட்சமாகவும் 10000 மணி நேரம் குறைந்த பட்சமாகவும் வடிவமைப்புக்குத் தக்கபடி, அவை உழைத்துப் பயனைத் தருகின்றன.

தோல் பொருள்களில் ஆர்வம் உடையவர்கள் கைப்பை உள்ளிட்டவற்றை வாங்கும் போது அது சுற்றுப்புறச்சூழலுக்கு கேடு பயக்காத வகையில் மிருகங்களைக் கொடுமைப் படுத்தாமல் பெறப்பட்ட தோலினால் ஆக்கப்பட்டதா என்பதைச் சரி பார்த்து வாங்கலாம்.

கிருஷ்ணர் சிலையால் மதுராவில் பரபரப்பு! போலீசார் குவிப்பு!

உத்தரப் பிரதேசத்தில் உள்ள கிருஷ்ண ஜென்ம பூமியான மதுரா நகரில் பாதுகாப்பு பலப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது,

டிசம்பர் 6 பாபர் மசூதி இடிப்பு தினத்தில் அசம்பாவிதங்கள் ஏதும் நடைபெறாமல் இருக்க பலத்த பாதுகாப்பு ஏற்பாடுகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளன. மதுரா நகரம் முழுவதும் 144 தடை உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

ஐயப்ப பக்தர்களுக்கு நிதி உதவி, இந்து மக்கள் கட்சி கோரிக்கை

அறநிலையத்துறை சார்பில், ஒவ்வொரு மாவட்டத்திலும், 5,000 ஏழை பக்தர்கள், சபரி மலை யாத்திரை மேற்கொள்ள, 6,000 ரூபாய் மானியம் வழங்க வேண்டும்’ என்று, இந்து மக்கள் கட்சி சார்பில் கோரிக்கை விடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.


இந்து மக்கள் கட்சி, ஈரோடு மாவட்ட செயற்குழு, பொதுக்குழு கூட்டம், பவானி அருகே காலிங்கராயன்பாளையத்தில்  நடந்தது. மேற்கு மண்டல செயலாளர் முருகேசன் தலைமை வகித்தார்.

இதில் பங்கேற்ற, இந்து மக்கள் கட்சி நிறுவன தலைவர் அர்ஜூன் சம்பத் கூறியதாவது: தமிழகத்தில், அனைத்து கோவில்களிலும் வழிபாடு தொடங்கி விட்டது. ராமேஸ்வரத்தில் புனித தீர்த்தங்கள் திறக்கப்பட்டு விட்டன. ஆனால், காசிக்கு இணையான திருத்தலமான பவானி சங்கமேஸ்வரர் கோவிலில், திதி, தர்ப்பணம் தர தடை தொடர்கிறது. தமிழகத்தில் இருந்து கேரளா செல்லும் ஐயப்ப பக்தர்களுக்கு, டோல்கேட்டில் கட்டணம் வசூலிக்க கூடாது. இதை வலியுறுத்தி டிச.,6ல், அனைத்து டோல்கேட்களிலும் மனு கொடுக்கும் போராட்டம் நடத்தவுள்ளோம்.

இந்து மக்கள் வெளியிட்ட ட்விட்டர் அறிவிப்பில் ஹஜ் யாத்திரைக்காக முஸ்லீம்களுக்கும், ஜெருசேலம் யாத்திரைக்காக கிறிஸ்தவர்களுக்கும் பெருமளவு நிதி வழங்கப்படுவதை சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளது . இந்து மக்கள் பெரும்பலாளாகவுள்ள தமிழ் நாட்டில் தமிழ்நாடு அரசு இந்துக்களுக்கு எந்த உதவியும் வழங்காதது பெரிய மனக்கசப்பை ஏற்படுத்தி வருகிறது. வடக்கேயுள்ள புனிதத் தலங்களுக்குச் செல்ல இந்து மத அர்ச்சகர்களுக்கு நிதி உதவி வழங்க வேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கை வலுத்து வருகிறது,.

கோவில் இடிப்பு விவகாரம் டி.ஆர்.ஓ., மீது புகார்

ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதுார்-சிவன் கோவில் இடிக்கப்பட்ட விவகாரத்தில், காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்ட வருவாய் அலுவலர் மீது, ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதுார் காவல் நிலையத்தில், ஹிந்து அமைப்பினர் நேற்று புகார் அளித்தனர்.

காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டம், ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதுார் தாலுகா, கிளாய் கிராமத்தில், தபோவனம் அறக்கட்டளை சார்பில், கனக காளீஸ்வரர் கோவில் கட்டப்பட்டது. இந்த கோவில் ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதுார் ஏரி கலங்கல் ஓடையை ஆக்கிரமித்து கட்டப்பட்டதாக, வருவாய்த் துறை சார்பில் புகார் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.முன்னறிவிப்பின்றி, நவ., 25ம் தேதி காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்ட வருவாய் அலுவலர் பன்னீர்செல்வம் தலைமையில் சென்ற குழுவினர், பொக்லைன் இயந்திரத்தால் கோவிலை இடித்து தரைமட்டமாக்கினர்.

இதை கண்டித்து, ஹிந்து அமைப்பினர், 50க்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் பேரணியாக ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதுார் தாசில்தார் அலுவலகம் சென்றனர்.அவகாசம் வழங்காமல் கோவிலை இடித்து, பொருட்சேதம் ஏற்படுத்தியதற்கு இழப்பீடு வழங்க வேண்டும் என்றும், கோவில் இருந்த இடத்தில் 15 சென்ட் பட்டா நிலத்தை அளவீடு செய்து கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என, தாசில்தாரிடம் மனு கொடுத்தனர்.

தொடர்ந்து, ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதுார் காவல் நிலையத்திற்கு சென்ற அவர்கள், கோவிலை இடித்த மாவட்ட வருவாய் அலுவலர் பன்னீர்செல்வம், நில அளவை ஆய்வாளர் கிருஷ்ணகுமார் ஆகியோர் மீது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என, புகார் மனு அளித்தனர்.

பாபர் வருகைக்கு முன் இந்தியாவில் அனைவரும் ஹிந்துக்களே: அசாம் முதல்வர்

‘ஹிந்துக்கள் பெரும்பான்மையாக வாழும் நாடு இந்தியா. முகலாய மன்னர் பாபர் வருவதற்கு முன், இந்தியாவில் அனைவரும் ஹிந்துக்களாக தான் இருந்தனர்,” என, அசாம் முதல்வர் ஹிமந்த பிஸ்வா சர்மா கூறினார்.

அசாமில் முதல்வர் ஹிமந்த பிஸ்வா சர்மா தலைமையிலான, பா.ஜ., ஆட்சி நடக்கிறது. நேற்று அவர் கூறியதாவது: ஹிந்துக்கள் பெரும்பான்மையாக வாழும் நாடு இந்தியா. உலகில் எந்த நாட்டில் ஹிந்துக்கள் வசித்தாலும், அவர்கள் இந்திய வம்சாவளியினராக தான் இருப்பர்.

முகலாய மன்னர் பாபர் 1526ல் இந்தியாவுக்கு வந்தார். அதற்கு முன் வரை இந்தியாவில் ஹிந்துக்கள் மட்டுமே இருந்தனர். வெளிநாடுகளில் வசிக்கும் ஹிந்துக்களுக்கு கஷ்டம் ஏற்பட்டால், அவர்கள் எப்போது வேண்டு மானாலும் இந்தியாவுக்கு வரலாம்; அது, அவர்களது உரிமை.

கோவில் கட்டுவது, கோவிலை சீரமைப்பது ஆகிய பணிகள் மதவாதமாக கூறப்படுவது கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது. கோவில்கள் கட்டுவதும், சீரமைப்பதும் ஹிந்துக்களின் உரிமை. ஒரு ஹிந்துவால் மட்டுமே உண்மையான மதச்சார்பின்மைவாதியாக இருக்க முடியும். ஹிந்துத்வா என்பது ஒரு வாழ்க்கை முறை. இதை தடுக்கவும் முடியாது; அழிக்கவும் முடியாது.

5 ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலாக ஹிந்துத்வா இந்தியாவில் உள்ளது. இங்குள்ள கிறிஸ்துவர்கள், முஸ்லிம்களின் முன்னோர்கள் ஹிந்துவாகத் தான் இருந்தனர். இந்தியா இருக்கும் வரை ஹிந்துத்வாவும் இருக்கும். இவ்வாறு அசாம் முதல்வர் ஹிமந்த பிஸ்வா சர்மா கூறினார்.

தமிழ் புத்தாண்டு மாற்றம்? ஹிந்து முன்னணி எதிர்ப்பு!

 தமிழ் புத்தாண்டு என தை முதல் நாளை அறிவிக்க, ஹிந்து முன்னணி கடும் எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

ஹிந்து முன்னணி மாநில தலைவர் காடேஸ்வரா சுப்ரமணியம் அறிக்கை: முதல்வர் ஸ்டாலின் அரசு, மக்கள் உணர்வை மதிக்காமல், தமிழ் புத்தாண்டின் மரபுக்கு பங்கம் ஏற்படுத்தும் வகையில், தமிழர்களின் மாண்பை சீர்குலைக்கிறது.புத்தாண்டு என்பது ஒரு நாள் விழா. தை திருநாள் என்பது போகி, பொங்கல், மாட்டு பொங்கல், காணும் பொங்கல் என நான்கு நாள் விழாவாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

தீபாவளி கொண்டாட்டம், விநாயகர் சதுர்த்தி என தமிழர் பண்டிகைகளையும், ஹிந்து வழிபாட்டையும் குறை கூறுவது வழக்கமாக உள்ளது. இதன் பின்னணியில், மதமாற்ற சக்திகளின் சதி உள்ளது. தமிழக அரசின் இந்த முடிவுக்கு கடும் கண்டனம் தெரிவிக்கிறோம். இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறியுள்ளார்.

வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி விழா ஸ்ரீரங்கத்தில் துவக்கம்

ஸ்ரீரங்கம் ரெங்கநாதர் கோவிலில், பகல்பத்து உற்சவத்துடன், வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி விழா துவங்கியது. திவ்ய தேசங்களில் முதன்மையான, பூலோக வைகுண்டம் என போற்றப்படும், ஸ்ரீரங்கம் ரெங்கநாதர் கோவிலில், வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி பெருவிழா,  ஜனவரி, 4ம் தேதி வரை நடக்கிறது.

. 108 வைணவ திருத்தலங்களில் முதன்மையானது, பூலோக வைகுண்டம் என்ற சிறப்புகளை கொண்டது திருச்சி ஸ்ரீரங்கம் ரங்கநாதர் கோயில். இங்கு ஆண்டுதோறும் மார்கழி மாதம் 20 நாட்கள் வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி விழா நடப்பது வழக்கம். ஆனால் இந்த வருடம் கார்த்திகை மாதத்திலேயே வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி வைபவம் நடைபெறுகிறது. 3-ம் தேதி 7 மணிக்கு திருநெடுந்தாண்டகத்துடன் வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி விழா துவங்கியது .


வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசியின் முக்கிய விழாவான சொர்க்கவாசல் என அழைக்கப்படும் பரமபதவாசல் வரும் 14ம் தேதியன்று அதிகாலை 4.45 மணிக்கு திறக்கப்படும். அன்று முதல் ராப்பத்து உற்சவம் துவங்குகிறது.

 
ஏகாதசி பெருவிழா துவங்கியதை முன்னிட்டு, ஸ்ரீரங்கமே விழாக்கோலம் பூண்டுள்ளது.

சபரிமலையில் பக்தர்கள் கூட்டம் அதிகரிப்பு: ஒரே நாளில் 27, 840 பேர் சாமி தரிசனம்

சனிக்கிழமையன்று ஒரே நாளில் 42,354 பக்தர்கள் தரிசனம் செய்ய சபரிமலையில் குவிந்தனர்.

சபரிமலை அய்யப்பன் கோவிலில் இந்த ஆண்டு மண்டல மற்றும் மகர விளக்கு பூஜைக்காக கடந்த 15ம் தேதி நடை திறக்கப்பட்டு 16ம் தேதி முதல் முன்பதிவு செய்த 30 ஆயிரம் பக்தர்கள் தினசரி தரிசனத்திற்காக அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு வந்தனர்.

சபரிமலைக்கு வரும் பக்தர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை நாளுக்கு நாள் அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. வெள்ளிக்கிழமை, 27,840 பக்தர்கள் தரிசனம் செய்து இருந்த நிலையில், சனிக்கிழமை ஒரே நாளில் 42,354 பக்தர்கள் தரிசனம் செய்ய காத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர். 

இதனால் வரும் டிசம்பர் 9ஆம் தேதி முதல் மகரவிளக்கு தினமான 2022ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 14ஆம் தேதி வரை ‘வெர்ச்சுவல் க்யூ’,மூலம் தினசரி முன்பதிவு செய்யும் பக்தர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 30 ஆயிரத்தில் இருந்து 40 ஆயிரமாக அதிகரிக்க திருவிதாங்கூர் தேவசம் போர்டு முடிவு செய்துள்ளது. அதோடு ‘ஸ்பாட் புக்கிங்’ முன்பதிவு மூலம் தினசரி 5000 பக்தர்களையும் தரிசனத்திற்கு அனுமதிக்க முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

திருமலை மற்றும் திருப்பதியில் மீண்டும் தரிசன டிக்கெட்

Madras HC slams HRCE for colluding with individuals in illegally occupying temple properties

Madras High Court expressed its displeasure over HRCE officials’ negligent attitude in dealing with temple properties. It observed that officials appear to be colluding with the individuals who use temple properties and allow corruption.

LiveLaw reported that while dealing with a case of occupying a property of Maahaliamman temple in Coimbatore, the court slammed the HRCE officials for not acting in the interest of the temples and devotees. Having leased the property in 1960, the individual continued to use it without paying the raised rent amount for 55 years even after the contract ended in 1965. When the HRCE department sent a notice of eviction, the individual went to court contesting that he was not informed of the hike and that his position as the leaseholder is valid.

He pleaded that as he had paid the arrears he should be allowed to continue to use the property. However the court observed that “mere payment of arrears of rent would not confer any right to claim leasehold rights“. If the lessee wants to continue the contract, HRCE commissioner has to approve the extension. But no documents to that effect were found. So concluding the contention as invalid the court dismissed the petition.

While doing so the court slammed the HINDU RELIGIOUS AND CHARITABLE ENDOWNMENT officials of colluding with the individuals in misusing temple properties and accused them of corruption. Expressing dissatisfaction over the negligence of authorities, the court reminded them of its role as the “custodian of the minor deity”. 

Observing that when it comes to temple properties, in numerous cases, lessees are in possession of the properties without any legal standing, the court directed the HRCE department to initiate proceedings to lease them through Open Public Auction.

It said “The High Court has to interfere in such circumstances even in the absence of initiation of action by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department in certain circumstances or inaction by the Authorities due to the active or passive collusion with the Private Parties“.

There have been many cases of temple properties being occupied illegally both by Hindus and non-Hindus without paying rent. In Ramanathapuram and Thanjavur temple properties worth hundreds of crores were encroached by Muslims with HRCE officials turning a blind eye even after court interference. Many other temple properties are encroached by missionaries as well and in one case a corrupt HRCE official willfully gave away temple land to build a church.

In one case the government itself had tried to distribute temple land to people for free through the revenue department. The fact that Srirangam Ranganatha swamy temple which had 330 acre land in 1886 now only has 24 acre should make Hindus understand the gravity of the issue.

Hindu party IMK demands subsidy for Sabarimala pilgrimage from Tamil Nadu government

Indu Makkal Katchi(IMK) has demanded the Tamil Nadu government to provide subsidy for Sabarimala pilgrimage. The party has requested the government to help poor Ayyappa devotees by distributing Rs.6000 as subsidy for their pilgrimage to Sabarimala similar to how Christians and Muslims are given subsidy for Jerusalem and Haj pilgrimage.

IMK chief Arjun Sampath has put forth some demands that would help Ayyappa devotees, a large part of whom are Tamils. He has requested the TN government to arrange free bus transportation, free accommodation and food in Sabarimala and to seek the centre to waive off toll charges for the pilgrims.

The party has also organised an event in which petitions to waive off toll charges will be given to toll gate officials and then sent to the Prime Minister and TN Highways Department.

TAMIL NADU government has been providing subsidies for Haj and Jerusalem pilgrimages for many years now. The late CM J Jayalalithaa announced in 2012 that Rs.40,000 subsidy will be provided for Hindus who go on pilgrimage to Mansarovar and Muktinath. But the pilgrims were selected by HRCE which leads one to believe that the scheme was also sponsored by the HRCE department.

While only 500 Hindus were given subsidy nearly 4000 Muslims received Haj subsidy in 2008. The outgoing CM Edappadi Palanisamy had promised to increase the number of Jerusalem pilgrims from 500 to 10,000 and had also increased the subsidy from Rs.20,000 to Rs.37,000.

Hindus who form the majority and have given up control of temples to the government receive less amount of subsidy than Christians and Muslims who control their places of worship and yet receive subsidy from the secular state.

So IMK’s demand to provide subsidy for Ayyappa devotees to aid their pilgrimage to Sabarimala has found support from many quarters.

Three more temples vandalized, murtis desecrated in Bangladesh

‘Unidentified’ people went on a rampage and vandalized three temples and desecrated the temple deities in Delduar upazila, Tangail district, Bangladesh early on November 16..

Sharbajanin Kali Mandir at Pirojpur, Shitola Mandir at Binnayuri and another temple at the residence of one Ajit Das were vandalized during the attacks, confirmed Delduar police Officer-in-Charge Sajjad Hossain.

The attackers beheaded the murtis at the temples and dumped the head of the Goddess Shitola murti in a nearby paddy field. Locals learnt about the incident in the morning and called the police. 

Violence against Bangladeshi Hindus has become so routine and commonplace that incidents like this one from Tangail hardly elicit any response from the global community. Newspapers in Western countries never report these incidents.

Security tightened in Mathura ahead of Babri mosque demolition anniversary

The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha has announced that it will install an idol of Lord Krishna at the deity’s actual birthplace , which it claims is in the mosque close to a prominent temple in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

Hindu Mahasabha leader Rajyashri Choudhary said the idol will be installed after a maha jalabhishek on December 6 to purify the place.

The date picked by the right-wing organisation marks the demolition in 1992 of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, the site of a temple-mosque dispute.

The Mahasabha threat to perform the ritual inside the Shahi Idgah comes at a time when the local courts are hearing a series of petitions seeking the removal” of the 17th century mosque, close to the Katra Keshav Dev temple.

Hindu Mahasabha leader Rajyashri Choudhary, however, denied there was any link between the 1992 event and organisation’s Mathura plan.

Security has been tightened in Mathura to avoid any untoward incident ahead of December 6, the date on which the Babri mosque was demolished in Ayodhya in 1992, officials said on Saturday.

Four right-wing groups, the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Srikrishna Janmabhumi Nirman Nyas, Narayani Sena and the Srikrishna Mukti Dal, had earlier sought permission to hold non-traditional programmes on the day.

District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal had turned them down, saying the question of granting permission to any event that may potentially disrupt peace does not arise.

“Adequate force has also been deployed at every entry point of Mathura,” Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover said.

President of Shahi Idgah committee professor Z Hasan, however, said that he has been living in Mathura for over 50 years and has always found the environment cordial and affectionate.

The suits seeking the shifting of the mosque is pending in courts, and their judgement will be honoured, committee members of the mosque said.

Muslim Barelvi sect wants to merge Pakistan and Bangladesh back into Bharat

Muslim organisation All India Tanzeem Ulama-e-Islam which claims to be the prominent organisation of the Barelvi sect of Muslims, has said that it will start a movement for Akhand Bharat (Undivided India), which means Bharat should be again geographically as it was in the pre-Independence era.

The organisation’s general secretary Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, who is based in Bareilly while the organisation is headquartered in Delhi, told IANS, “It’s our intention that India should attain Akhand Bharat status with merger of Pakistan and Bangladesh as it was before partition.”

He said that when Germany can unite why not Bharat, which has the same culture as Pakistan and Bangladesh. We should move forward, it will make Bharat a strong country.

Bharat was partitioned in 1947 when Pakistan came into existence and in 1971 Bangladesh was liberated from Pakistan, forming three separate nations.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat  also advocated for ‘Akhand Bharat’ (united India) in a book launching  event on November 26. He termed the partition as an unforgettable event and asserted that the pain of division will only end when the partition would be revoked.
