Cobalt is an essential element for human beings. It is the heart of B12 vitamin. Lack of it will produce fewer red corpuscles and cause anaemia.

People are familiar with cobalt blue colour in glass and ceramic materials. But it is used in other ways as well.
There are very interesting titbits about this element
Cobalt name came from goblin. Sixteenth century Saxony miners tried to extract sliver from cobalt ores thinking that they were silver ores. But they were disappointed to find toxic fumes of arsenic were given off. It was indeed cobalt arsenide. They cursed the ores saying that it had been bewitched by goblins.

Egyptians, Sumerians and ancient Chinese used it.
Cobalt blue is famous because of the glass and ceramic materials with cobalt blue colour.
Cobalt requirement of human body comes from food. Clams, sardines, salmon herring, liver and eggs contain B12.

Magnetic Mines

Cobalt steel with highly magnetic properties was used by Nazi Germany in the making of magnetic mines. Those mines were triggered by the magnetic field of British ships and were sinking British ships. But Britain put degaussing coils around its ships and then Germany used them to make bombs which damaged British buildings.

Cobalt producing countries— Zaire, Canada , Morocco, Sweden.

Uses
Georg Brandt of Stockholm discovered it.
Magnetised cobalt has some advantages over iron magnets. They have magnetism even at higher temperatures.
Stellite made with cobalt, tungsten and other elements is used to make cutting tools.
Mainly used in colouring glass and ceramic materials.
Cobalt 60 is a radioactive isotope. It is used in cobalt therapy and irradiating preserved food.

Chemical properties

Symbol Co
Atomic number 27
Melting point 1495 degree C
Boiling point 2870 C
It is a lustrous silvery blue metal.

Invisible Inks

Cobalt was once used to make invisible ink. When cobalt chloride solution was used to write messages, it would become invisible. When it is heated the message would appear and can be read easily. Spies used it to send secret messages using this property. They would use cobalt chloride for writing secret messages. On top of it they use normal ink to write innocent messages. Only spies would know the secrets.

In the nineteenth century artificial flowers were coated with cobalt chloride. As the weather becomes hotter it would turn from pink to violet and then to blue. Indrajal (magic) was done with colour changes.

The famous American orator, Robert Ingersoll, was the owner of a remarkable and celebrated Library of atheistical books.

An interviewer once asked Ingersoll what the Library had cost him.

Thinking it over a moment, Ingersoll replied,

It certainly cost me the Governorship of Illinois and possibly the Presidency of the United States.

News Paper’s Dog Hunt!!

Booth Tarkington, while stopping at a little Indiana town, lost one of his dogs.

Have you a newspaper in town ? He asked of the landlord.

Right across the way, there, back of the shoemaker’s, the landlord told him.

The Daily News, best little paper of its size in town.

The editor, the printer, printers devil were all busy doing justice to Mr Tarkington with an ‘in our midst ‘paragraph when the novelist arrived.

“I have just lost a dog, Tarkington explained, after introducing himself, and I would like to have you insert this ad for me. Fifty dollars reward for the return of the pointer dog answering to the name of Rex. Disappeared from the yard of the Mansion House Monday night.

Why, we were just going to the press, Sir, the editor said, but we will be only too glad to hold the edition for your ad.

Mr Tarkington returned to the hotel. After a few minutes, he decided, however, that it might be well to add,

‘No questions asked’, to his ad and returned to the Daily news office.

The place was deserted, save for the skinny little freckle faced devil, who sat perched on a high stool, gazing, is wistfully out of the window.

Where is every everybody? Tarkington .

“Gawn to hunt the dawg”, replied the boy, asked without removing his gaze from the distant places.

In the Shadow of Man

(Dead Time and Waste time)

3. The children of our country are being lied to. Millions of impressionable young minds are being trained to hate, loathe and despise upon their ancestors, culture and country. Seeds of mutual suspicion are being sown in their minds. Caste, geography, religion, gender and all other social and cultural markers are being used to cast our children into mutually antagonistic identities. Our children’s mind space is the battleground where the enemy, from within, is staging an uncontested victory, and destroying us without us even realising the existence of this belligerent front.

This war is being fought through lies. These lies are being presented as history through textbooks that are compulsory for students. The NCERT history textbooks, read and internalised by millions of children every year, are supposed to be the product of the highest academic quality and honesty. But in this case, the ‘expert historian’ has been quietly replaced by a propagandist. The propagandist unashamedly plays havoc with our history. Instead of facts, he uses all the propaganda techniques in creating a fiction, which he then passes on to our children as the ‘authoritative’ history sanctioned by the Indian State. The principal technique used in these NCERT history textbooks is to lie and lie big. Instead of teaching historical assertions based on facts, this propagandist tries to create a picture of our past based on hearsay, conjectures and obviously, outright lies.

The scrutiny of the entire content, from Class 6th to Class 12lh, shows that the version of history being presented in these books is tilted heavily against one side: of India’s ancient heritage, religion, culture, social leaders, scriptures and even its language.

The education system of India has been thoroughly compromised. It is being systematically used to create a historical grand narrative which is ethically and factually incorrect. Sophisticated propaganda techniques are employed to create this artifice.

The distorted portrayal is neither an accident nor an aberration. Every lie, distortion, speculation, and conjecture that is employed in manufacturing the Indian history has a well-designed objective. It builds a false narrative for the gullible students to absorb and imbibe in their psyche. The message, though subtle and executed by masters of deception, is yet very clear. It depicts an Indian society, culture and religion drenched in misogyny, discrimination, cruelty, imperialism, inequality and superstition. India is shown as a disjointed and artificial entity consisting of historically antagonistic social and cultural entities.

The book “Brainwashed Republic” exposes the blatant manner iin which democratic institutions are being used to subvert the thought process of Indians. It exposes how this academic subversion sows the seeds of social unrest among various groups on the basis of linguistic, regional and caste identities.

Our fellow citizens have every right to know what lies are being peddled in the name of history. We hope that bringing these facts in public domain will help in eradicating these distortions from Indian history. It is high time that the decision makers take preventive and corrective measures to avoid the damage that this subversion can lead to.

There are individuals and institutions that have a vested interest in presenting a biased version of history to the students of our country. The distortions in the present history books are not spectacular, but insidious. 􏰁
