Almost all of us are descendants of Hindus says Assam CM Himanta Biswa

Asserting that Hindutva is a way of life, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that adherents of most religions are descendants of Hindus.

“Hindutva is a way of life. How can I or anybody stop it? It has been flowing through the ages. Almost all of us are descendants of Hindus. A Christian or a Muslim has also descended from Hindus at some point in time,” PTI quoted Sarma as saying on Saturday.

He further stressed that the Hindutva began 5,000 years ago and it cannot be stopped.

While addressing a press conference organised to mark the completion of the second month of his government in the state, the BJP leader said Hindutva cannot be “removed” as it will mean “moving away from one’s roots and motherland”.

Assam CM backs ‘Love Jihad’ law

Backing the law against ‘Love Jihad’ to check the menace of men marrying women by concealing their religious identity and other information, the Assam chief minister said he has reservations for the term but asserted that nobody will be allowed to cheat a woman.

“The government will not tolerate any woman being cheated by anyone – whether Hindu or Muslim. Appropriate action will be taken against such offenders to ensure the safety and security of our sisters,” he said.

Uttarakhand govt to send Gangajal in tankers if Kanwar yatra not allowed

With Kanwar Yatra on hold, the Uttarakhand government is planning to transport Gangajal in tankers to other states such as Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar to ensure that yatris do not miss the annual pilgrimage and are able to perform the rituals without travelling to Haridwar.

The Uttarakhand state government had on June 30 issued orders cancelling the yatra in view of the Covid-19 situation, but has been requested by its Uttar Pradesh counterpart to reconsider the decision.

“In case, the yatra is not permitted due to recent strict stance of the high court on religious gatherings, the Uttarakhand government is planning to transport Gangajal in tankers to the states from where maximum number of pilgrims arrives. The final decision on the yatra will be taken soon. If it is permitted, then it will be with restrictions,” said a state government official.

Maximum Kanwar yatris come to Haridwar from the states of Delhi, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and MP.  In 2019, over 3.5 crore devotees had visited Haridwar in the auspicious month of SRAWAN.

RSS Joins Koo App

Amidst the faceoff between American microblogging platform Twitter and the Government of India, Twitter’s rival and indigenous microblogging platform Koo on Friday said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has joined its platform to connect with people in Indian languages.

Koo, which has been projected as an alternative to Twitter, is witnessing an exceedingly increasing userbase on the made in India platform. Koo is widely being adopted by the BJP leaders and also those among the citizens who are vocally criticising Twitter for flouting Indian laws especially the new IT rules.

“With over 5 million members, RSS is the progenitor and leader of a large body of organisations with a presence across various facets of Indian society,” the company said in a statement.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Aprameya Radhakrishna, founder of TaxiForSure, and Mayank Bidawatka, who previously formed companies like MediaAnt and Goodbox, Koo now has over 6.5 million users.

“A made in India platform, Koo enables organizations to strengthen local reach and connect with communities in various parts of India. The RSS’s official spokesperson, Rajiv Tuli, has also joined Koo,” the company said.

‘Those who indulge in lynching are against Hindutva’: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said the concept of Hindu-Muslim unity is misleading because there is nothing to unite as they are no different. Speaking at an event organised by Muslim Rashtriya Manch, which is the Muslim wing of the RSS, Bhagwat said there can never be any dominance of either Hindus or Muslims. “There can only be the dominance of Indians,” Bhagwat said, as news agency PTI reported.

“It has been proven that we’re descendants of the same ancestors from the last 40,000 years. People of India have the same DNA,” the RSS chief said adding that politics can’t unite people. “There are some works that politics can’t do. Politics can’t unite people. Politics can’t become a tool to unite people but can become a weapon to distort unity,” he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Those who are indulging in lynching are against Hindutva, the RSS chief said but he also mentioned that sometimes some false cases of lynching have also been registered against people.

Bhagwat said Muslims are not in danger in India as development is not possible without any unity in the country and for unity, dialogue is needed, not discord. “Don’t get trapped in the cycle of fear that Islam is in danger in India,” he said.

Pollution in Yamuna: Mathura priests ban entry of politicians

The priests have put up a huge banner on the Ghats of the river in Mathura, saying “They all are liars who swear on Yamuna ji. They are only seen when elections are near. These culprits of mother Yamuna and officials are banned from roaming around the Yamuna River and performing puja.”

A local priest, Radhey Shyam, said, “Several political leaders visit the Yamuna River during elections but disappear after winning polls. But this time we will not let that happen and are making our intentions clear through this banner.”

He further said, “Political leaders have assured us time and again that Yamuna would be cleared of pollutants but nothing has changed on the ground.”

National president of Akhil Bhartiya Teerth Purohit Mahasabha, Mahesh Pathak, also said that the river water was getting worse every day despite the fact that a party, which claims to understand the Hindu sentiments attached to the river, was in power in the state.”

Odisah CM Naveen Patnaik asks admin to complete Rath Yatra rituals on time

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday asked Puri district administration and other stakeholders to ensure that all rituals of the Rath Yatra on July 12 are completed on time.

Reviewing the preparations at a high-level meeting virtually, the Chief Minister said the Rath Yatra will be held this year during a very critical period like last time. Devotees from the entire world can have a darshan of Lord Jagannath through television and social media, he added.

The Chief Minister sought the cooperation of all sevayats and people of Puri for completion of the festival on time. He thanked all for completion of last year’s Rath Yatra in a hassle-free manner.

The State government has exempted Puri town from weekend shutdown on Saturday in the interest of general public as curfew has been clamped by the district administration from July 11 to  July 13 in view of the Rath Yatra.

People perform rituals at Triveni Sangama

As the district administration has given permission to the people to perform rituals for the deceased members of their families at Triveni Sangama in Bhaganandala, the ‘Asthi Visarjana’ was carried out by people on Tuesday.

Following the Covid-19 lockdown, there was a ban on religious rituals for the last two months. Many people had requested the district administration to permit to carry out the ‘Asthi Visarjana’ ritual as the process has to be done within 16 days of the death.

Triveni Sangama is known to the best place to carry out the ritual, owing to religious beliefs.
