Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy to begin yatras over continued attacks on temples in the state
Amidst the ongoing attacks on Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh, renowned Hindu spiritual leader Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy has decided to undertake a yatra from January 17 to temples that were vandalised in the recent past.
According to the reports, Seer Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy has decided to start a yatra to seek protection for Hindu religious places.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, the seer expressed his disappointment over the continued attacks on temples and mentioned that over 50 temples have faced attacks in recent months. He also said that in a temple in Singarayakonda, the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy idol was damaged and asked authorities to ensure that there will be no such attacks in the coming days.
He also demanded strict action against miscreants who vandalised the temples .
A series of temple attacks in Andhra Pradesh
Attacks on Hindus and its temples in the state of Andhra Pradesh are continuously increasing. In a short span, several temples have been reportedly vandalized by the miscreants. From destroying idols to burning century-old chariots, a lot has happened in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Chief Minister rushes straight to temples to carry out Bhoomi Pujan after backlash over series of temple attacks
SR Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh has now gone into damage control mode after a spate of horrifying temple vandalism in the state, with idols too getting desecrated. Temperatures in Andhra Pradesh have been rising against the YSRCP government, which is being increasingly seen as a front working only for the benefit of minorities – particularly Christians in the state.
Now, to calm the tempers of Hindus in the state, and also to not let opposition parties mount an aggressive campaign against him, Jagan Mohan Reddy is conducting Bhoomi Pujans at temples and also inaugurating development works for various Hindu places of worship.

BJP wants YSRC government to reconstruct 127 damaged temples
Former BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana has demanded that YSR Congress government start reconstruction of 127 temples damaged in Andhra Pradesh with immediate effect, thereby honouring the sentiments of Hindus.
He was speaking during a dharna organised by BJP at Guntur Collector’s office protesting against the arrest of BJP state president Somu Veerraju and other party leaders when they were taking out the BJP Dharma Yatra to Ramateertham.
He alleged that during the 18 months of YSRC rule in the state, as many as 127 Hindu temples have been attacked. But not a single person has been arrested until now. He wanted the government take responsibility for reconstruction of all 127 damaged temples.

ANOTHER NEWS ITEM HAS COME FROM VIJAYAWADA IN ANDHRA PRADESH
Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment began on a grand note at Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri IN VIJAYAWADA on Tuesday.
Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment was held from January 5 to 9.
Devotees were allowed to have darshan of the presiding deity from 5:30 am onwards amidst chanting of Vedic hymns.
Devotees from various parts of the state and neighbouring States thronged the hill shrine to relinquish their 41-day and 21-day-long Bhavani deeksha.
Around 100 guru bhavanis from various parts of the State were specially appointed by the temple authorities for deeksha relinquishment at Mallikarjuna Mandapam. After completing darshan, devotees dropped ghee-filled coconuts and other puja material which is in their ‘irumudi’ at the homa gundam.
Temple authorities said only 10,000 Bhavani devotees, who booked tickets online, will be allowed per day.

23 YEARS AFTER THE LAUNCH OF A RAILWAY LINE PROJECT TO THE HILL SHRINE IN SABARIMALAI HAS GOT THE NOD FROM KERALA GOVERNMENT
Kerala Agrees To Share 50 Per Cent Of Cost For Railway Project
- Currently, Sabarimala pilgrims land at Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram airport before arriving at Pamba by car.
By train, pilgrims reach either Kottayam or Chengannur before taking cabs or government buses to Pamba.
All these travels take between four to six hours.
A railway project pending for nearly 23 years for the benefit of Sabarimala Ayyappa devotees could finally see the light of the day with the Kerala Cabinet coming forward to share 50 per cent of the project cost.
The Sabarimala rail project to connect Angamaly in Kerala’s Ernakulam district with Erumeli in Kottayam district, some 18 km from Pamba, the base to ascend for Sabarimala, was announced in the 1997-98 Budget at a cost of Rs 517 crore. THE COST TRIPLED BECAUSE OF THE DELAY. NOW KERALA GOVERNMENT HAS AGREED TO SHARE THE COST. PREVIOUSLY IT REFUSED TO FINANCE THE PROJECT.

RSS plans to reach out to 10 crore families for collection of funds for Ram Temple
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has decided that it send it cadre to 5 lakh villages throughout the country to collect funds for the construction of Ram Temple In Ayodhya. The decision was taken at the national coordination committee meeting of various organisations affiliated to RSS held in Gujarat from 5-7 January.
Addressing the media on decisions taken in the meeting, Krishna Gopal, Senior RSS functionary said ‘After bhoomipujan of Ram Temple on 5 August, people throughout the country want a grand temple to be constructed in Ayodhya. Our cadre will reach out to 5 lakh villages throughout the country. We will contact more than 10 crore families. Minumum support for the construction of Ram Temple will be Rs 10. People who are willing to contribute can also contribute Rs 100 and Rs 1000
The national coordination committee meeting of RSS was also attended by functionaries from Vishva Hindu Parishad and General Secretary of Ram Mandir Trust Champat Rai. he outreach program of RSS-VHP is likely to start on January 15.
In the three-day coordination committee meeting of RSS and its 30 affiliated organisations, the current issues of national importance were discussed.

APPEAL TO USE GO MAATHAA PRODUCTS
Karnataka Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan on Thursday appealed to people to help protect cows by using soaps, shampoos, incense sticks and other products made of cow dung and urine.
“Besides milk, curd, butter and ghee, there are products made from cow dung and urine such as soap, shampoo, incense sticks, pancha gavya, vermi compost, and pesticides. People should use them more and cooperate in protecting the cow.
The Minister’s statement comes in the backdrop of the state government promulgating on January 5 the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Ordinance that awards punishment for killing of cattle and offers protection to those acting in good faith to save them, as the Bill to this effect is yet to be cleared by the legislative council.

ANOTHER NEWS ITEM FROM KARNATAKA IS ABOUT OFFERING HELP TO POOR BRAHMINS IN THE STATE
Two initiatives aimed to benefit Brahmin brides will be launched by the Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board.
The schemes are named ‘Arundhati’ and ‘Maitreyi’ respectively. The board will provide Rs 25,000 to newly-wedded Brahmin women as per ‘Arundhati’. Similarly, brides marrying priests (Archakas and Purohits) will be assured a bond of Rs 3 lakh under the ‘Maitreyi’ programme.
500 brides from poor backgrounds will initially avail the benefit of Arundhati scheme and the Maitreyi scheme will be extended to 25 brides.
H S Sachidananda Murthy, Chairman of the state’s Brahmin Development Board, told Deccan Herald, “It is for people from economically weaker sections of the society.
The Board is taking several other measures for the well-being of people belonging to the Brahmin community. 4,000 participants aged between 8-80 years will be given Rs 500 as they will be trained in sandhya vandana and pooja rituals. Furthermore, Murthy claimed that Rs 14 crore will be spent to provide scholarships to 5,800 students from this group.
