Jamaat-e-Islami leader pleads guilty to attack on Durga Puja pandal in Bangladesh

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Kamaluddin Abbasi has pleaded guilty to his involvement in an attack on a Durga puja mandap in Bangladesh’s Hajiganj earlier this month.

He made confession on Thursday evening in the court of Chandpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Kamaluddin.

In his statement, he also revealed the names of the other persons involved in the incident, said Milan Mahmud, superintendent of Chandpur Police.

A group of the militants attacked the Hajiganj Bazar temple after 8 p.m. on October 13. When the police tried to control the situation, there was a clash with the attackers.

A total of five people were killed in the ensuing violence.

CCTV footage of the attack showed Abbasi leading the violence.

About 5,000 unidentified persons have been accused in 10 cases of the nationwide violence, and the police have arrested 29 people so far.

According to Mahmud, an operation is underway to nab the other perpetrators.

HINDUS ONLY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR TEMPLE POSTS- SAYS TAMILNADU GOVERMENT

The TAMIL NADU State government on Friday maintained that only persons professing Hindu religion are entitled for appointment to the posts in the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department and the institutions run by it as per the relevant Act.

It was submitted before the Madras High Court when a petition challenging the notification of the department calling for walk-in interview for teaching and non-teaching posts at Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Arts and Science College, came up for hearing.

The appointment is being done only for the particular college, sponsored by the Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple administration, said Advocate General R Shanmugasundaram. The condition of eligibility of persons professing Hindu religion is made because Section 10 of HR&CE Act mandates it. He said walk-in interview was already held and appointment orders were issued for some.

Petitioner’s counsel, S Doraisamy, contended Section 10 of the Act can be applied for recruiting employees of the department and not for educational institutions run by it. Justice C Saravanan adjourned the matter for two weeks and directed the State to submit the counter-affidavit.

TCS to manage Ram temple trust funds

The management of the Ram Temple Trust funds that have crossed Rs 3,000 crore, has now been entrusted to corporate giant, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is developing a digital accounting software.

Ram temple Trust General Secretary Champat Rai confirmed the takeover. Sources said that the decision was taken at the behest of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which had summoned three key Trust members to Mumbai four months ago for a closed-door meeting over the controversial  land deals.

TCS has set up its account’s office at Ramghat near Ram Janmabhoomi and is scheduled to complete developing the software by December and begin digitisation and management of Trust accounts.

IT experts from the Tata Group recently gave a powerpoint presentation of the software to temple construction committee chairman, Nripendra Mishra.

GRAND FAREWELL TO NAVARATRI IDOLS IN KERALA BEFORE RETURNING TO TAMIL NADU

A farewell function to the Navaratri idols was organised by the Travancore Navaratri Festival Trust with support from the Union Ministry of Culture on Sunday, Oct 17.

A grand farewell was accorded to the procession carrying Navratri idols in the capital THIRUVANANTHAPURAM  on Sunday. The three idols brought from Tamil Nadu were being worshipped in the capital during the nine days of the Navaratri ritual.

On Sunday morning, the administrator of the Navaratri Trust Raja Raja Varma handed over the royal sword to Sudarsanakumar, manager of Kumarakovil, marking the start of the return journey. The idol of goddess Saraswati and the sword were then taken to Killipalam where the idols of Kumaraswamy and Munnoottinanka joined the procession.

The police band gave a stunning ceremonial performance and gave a guard of honour to the idols. The procession then moved to Neyyattinkara and reached the Sree Krishna Temple there by noon.

The idol of Saraswathi Devi will be installed at the Thevarakettu. The idol of Kumaraswami will be taken to the Velimala temple later.

The idol of Munnootinanka will be placed at Kalkulam Mahadeva temple in the night and taken to the Suchindram temple the next day.

Fabindia brands Diwali collection “Jashn-e-Riwaaz”, backtracks after major backlash

Earlier this week, traditional clothing brand Fabindia attracted major backlash from Hindus from all walks of life after just days ahead of Diwali, they launched an ad campaign for their new collection which was branded ‘Jashn-e-Riwaaz’, with the accompanying image showing 4 women, all without bindis.

This misadventure didn’t sit well with most Hindus who took to social media to voice their protest at the appropriation and erasure of a Hindu religious festival. The hashtag #BoycottFabindia started to trend in no time and was trending for two days.

It has also been revealed that in 2019, FabIndia had appointed Zeno Group as its digital advertising partner, headed by Managing Director Rekha Rao Gulrays who is also the co-founder of Katha Kathan, an organization routinely promoting Urdu literature.

Rekha Rao also has an affinity for using her Twitter account for cracking Hinduphobic cow-urine jokes

After the massive backlash, Fabindia deleted the tweet promoting “Jashn-e-Riwaaz” as its collection for the festival of love and light.

Hindus protest against Bangladesh violence in 740 ISKCON temples, across 170 countries

HIDU POST MAGAZINE REPORTS …..

The horrific anti-Hindu pogrom launched in Bangladesh from the eight day of Durga Puja onwards, has proven to be the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. Hindu response to such persecution and targeted violence in the past has been sporadic and localized protests, and loads of apathy. But that finally seems to be changing.

Protests by Bangladeshi Hindus accompanied to rallying cries of Joy Sri Ram, Har Har Mahadev were the first sign that we were not going to take things lying down anymore. This was followed by more protests in West Bengal, Assam, other parts of Bharat and internationally such as in USA and UK.

Yesterday, ISKCON organized a coordinated series of protests at 740 ISKCON temples across 170 countries.  ISKCON devotees performed Harinam Sankirtan ( congregational chanting of the holy name) to condemn the violence in Bangladesh.

At one such protest, holding banners that said, ‘Protect our temples in Bangladesh’ and ‘Stop violence against Hindus’ several devotees gathered at the ISKCON temple in Pune, Maharashtra on Saturday morning and protested against the attacks and killings of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.

Radheshyam Das, President of ISKCON Pune temple in Maharashtra, Bharat said, “ISKCON has been working for world peace for the last many years in different countries. We work for social causes. ISKCON performed services for the people even in Bangladesh during the Covid crisis. We are protesting peacefully against the attacks in Bangladesh. World leaders should stand with us.”

“The ISKCON temple in Bangladesh was demolished. Some ISKCON devotees were also killed in attacks in the last few days. Women were also attacked. Forceful conversions of Hindus are being done. We demand that the Bangladesh government rebuild the temples demolished by the anti-social elements. Also, amendments should be made in the Bangladeshi law for protection of Hindu women and minority communities. We demand the United Nations and the Indian government take up steps for protection of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh,” said Shwetdeep Das alias Sanjay Bhosale, vice president of ISKCON.

Members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also took part in the protests.
