WAYANG is a puppet show performed in Indonesia for over two thousand years. Accompanied with music, Ramayana and Mahabharata stories are told. Though Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world, Hindu culture is respected by all.
Here are characters from the Mahabharata :
BALARAMA is brother of Krishna and son of rohini. He married Revati, daughter of king Raivata.
Balarama helped Krishna to abduct Rukmini and marry her. But he objected when Arjuna abducted Subhadra, but he was calmed down by Krishna.
He was short tempered and killed rishi Romaharshana, disciple of Veda Vyasa. He went on a pilgrimage during Mahabharata war to atone for his action. He always carried a plough on his shoulder. He spread agriculture throughout India. He disliked wars. So, he maintained neutrality in the war and went away from Kurukshetra, but came on the final day. Again he objected to Krishna when Bhima killed Duryodhana violating the rules of fighting; his objection was Bhima hitting Duryodhana below the belt. But again, Krishna calmed him down. Balarama wore blue silk garment and Krishna wore yellow colour garment . Balarama wore ornament in only one ear which was sung by Sangam Tami poets.
இந்தோனேஷியா உலகிலேயே பெரிய முஸ்லீம் நாடு ; ஆனாலும் இந்து கலாசாரத்தில் மூழ்கிப்போன நாடு; ஆகையால் ராமாயணமும் மஹாபாரதமும் பல்வேறு நாடகங்களாக நடந்த வண்ணம் உள்ளது வயங் என்பது பொம்மலாட்டம் ஆகும்; நல்ல இசையுடன் ராமாயண மஹாபாரதக் கதைகளை விளக்குவார்கள். ஒவ்வொரு மஹாபாரத கதா பாத்திரத்தையும் அவர்கள் எப்படிக் காட்டுகிறார்கள் என்பதைப் பாருங்கள்.
பலராமன் கிருஷ்ணாநின் சகோதரர் ; ரோகிணியின் மகன். அவர் ரைவதன் புதல்வியான ரேவதியை மணந்தார் ; கொஞ்சம் முன்கோபக்காரர்; ருக்மிணியை கடத்தி வந்து திருமணம் செய்ய கிருஷ்ணனுக்கு உதவினார்; ஆனால் அர்ஜுனன் சுபத்ராவைக்க கடத்தி வந்து மணம்புரிய ஆட்சேபம் தெரிவித்தார். கிருஷ்னன் சமாதானம் செய்யவே கோபம் அடங்கியது. ஒரு முறை தவறுதலாக கோபத்தில் வியாசரின் சீடரான ரோமஹர்ஷ ரிஷியைக் கொன்றுவிட்டார்.
பொதுவாக யுத்தத்தை விரும்பாதவர்; ஆகையால் ரிஷியைக் கொன்ற பாவத்தை அகற்ற புனித யாத்திரை மேற்கொள்தாககக் கூறி புறப்பட்டுவிட்டார்
தோளில் உழுகலனை ஏந்திச் சென்று நாடு முழுதும் விவசாயத்தைப் பரப்பினார்
இவர், ஒரு காதில் அணிகலம் அணிந்திருப்பதை சங்கத் புலவர்கள் பாடியள்ளனர்.
பலராமன் நீல வண்ண சில்க் ஆடையையும் கிருஷ்ணன் மஞ்சள் வண்ண ஆடையையும் அணிவதால் நீலாம்பரன் பீதாம்பரன் என்று இருவரும் அழைக்கப்பட்டனர்.
