London was burning with over 30 degree Centigrade on Sunday 24th May 2026. But two great events happened at the same time. And yet I did not hesitate to attend both and take pictures for you. I had to walk over three miles in central London to cover the Rath Yatra by the ISKCON (Hare Krishna Movement). Thousands of people participated in the Rath Yatra . Several thousand more tourists saw the Rath Yatra from cars and buses. At the end of the Rath Yatra several thousand had Tasty Prasad with six mouth watering items. When ISKCON organise an event there is no police seen on the roads. They are so organised and disciplined and there is no work for the police. On the other hand, 6000 police were on the roads last Saturday to maintain peace when Anti Refugee and Pro Palestinian marches were held in London. That is the big difference between the well-disciplined, peace- loving Hindu crowd and others. Men and women danced on the roads to the tune of loud music in spite of the scorching sun.

Maha Rudra Yaga

In the morning Mitra Seva UK organised their annual Maha Rudra Yaga. Every years Siva devotees from Scotland to Southampton participate in it. Over ten priests did the Rudra Homam from the morning till late afternoon. Prasad was distributed to everyone. A dedicated group of volunteers led by M Rajagopalan, Mrs Uma Rajagopalan, Mr Raj Iyer and Mrs Meena Raj, Mr Balasubramanian and Mrs Padma Balasubramanian, Mr Subrahmanyam and Mrs Gayatri Subrahmanyam made the event a grand success.

Priests led by Madurai Chandrasekaran, Chennai Raja Skaran, Devarajan, Agastya Kurukkal conducted the Rudra Homam in the traditional way. Rudram and Chamakam were recited along with Tevaram and other Tamil hymns by them. This annual event is attended regularly by 150 to 200 devotees. Organisers got Nava Dhanya and Nava Samits in plenty which is very rare to see in London.

Please see the pictures which will give you more details.
