Hindus are lucky to get great historical Inscriptions in Turkey and Egypt!

I was reading again the book DATES AND DYNASTIES IN EARLIEST INDIA by R.MORTON SMITH, TORONTO, CANADA, 1973. He studied Sanskrit for 38 years ; worked as professor in the Sanskrit departments ofOxford University and Toronto University, Canada. He shows the periods of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna very close, with only a hundred year difference. Though I don’t agree with him in placing Mahabharata war in 1000 BCE and Ramayana in 1100 BCE he has given us some points to ponder. He has concluded after studying Puranas and approaching it in a scientific way. We also hear stories like Parasurama of Ramayana teaching Karna of Mahabharata and Bhima of Mahabharata meeting Hanuman of Ramayana. Morton Smith’s research gives support to those stories.

The good thing that comes out of his book is that Max Muler Gangs’ theories are exploded. He gives us over 40 Yadhava kings from 1600 BCE. The earliest Ikshvaku King ruled in 1860 BCE overlapping Indus Valley civilisation.

Tamils must be happy to read that Agastya was living in 1260 BCE.

Rig Vedic names such as Dirgatamas , Divodasa, Trsadasyu, Sudas, Visvamitra and Vasistha also were assigned dates. If we believe Ravana -Pandya Peace agreement narrated by the greatest Brahmin Tamil Commentator Nacchinarkiniyar, if we belie his story of Tolkaappiar clashing with Agastya, if we believe his statement that Tolkappiar was Trna dumagni , then all these are placed in 1250 BCE.

But there are discrepancies. He gives Ravana 100 to 200 years earlier than Rama. He himself has shown four Dasarathas, 6 Janamejayas many Vasisthas, Many Viswamitras, many Bharadwajas. But yet lot of information given by him may be the starting points for future research.

The most important things are the names of DASARATHA, PRTARDANA ETC. Hindus were lucky to get two inscriptions from Turkey and Egypt dated around 1500 BCE with the names of Dasaratha and Pratardana. Vedic Gods are in a peace agreement made in Turkey. The names are in the same order as reported in the Rig Veda. They are called Amarna letters and Bogazkoy Inscription. Full details are in my blogs and all encyclopaedias including Wikipedia; they were discovered after Max Muller’s death in 1921. Had he lived then he would have rewritten whatever he bluffed earlier.

One big defect in his research is that he has believed what the Puranas said. Pargitter also did the same. But if Hindu scholars sit together they can find which Dasaratha they mentioned, which Vasistha they referred to. If Dasaratha’s name could reach Egypt and Turkey in 1500 BCE , our Dsaratha must have lived long before that. Turkey Dasaratha, Turkey Pratardana were later than our Puranic personalities. Mitanni civilization is about Hindus in Turkey and Egypt  and so foreign scholars did not bother about them. Thank God, they have faithfully reported what they discovered in Egypt and Turkey. I have already written about Kikkulis Horse Training Manual with Sanskrit instructions (dated 1380 BCE) discovered in Turkey.

Here below is what Morton smith has said about some Puranic characters; I have added Solar Dynasty list from Wikipedia. In the Wikipedia list,  I have inserted dates given by Morton Smith. Before Alexanders invasion, solar dynasty ruled with over 140 kings. Even if we give 25 years to each king,  accepted by historians around the world, It will take our history 5000 to 6000 years back. Let us do methodical research without jumping to conclusions. One thing is very clear; the geographical material we get covers the whole of India. The first Manu after Floods is called a Dravida. The first Matsyavatara occurred in South India. Tiru Gnana Sambandar also sang about it in Seerkazi when he explained the 12 names of Seerkazi town. Madurai Bharadwaja Gotra Brahmin Nacchinarkiniyar  was a Tamil fanatic and he placed even Vedic shaka after Tamil. But Kanchi Paramcharya (1894-1994) has pointed out where that Brahmin commentator went wrong. But his stories about Ravana ,Pandya, Tolkappiar and Agastya are interesting
