Sudarsana Homam is one of the powerful Homas to control enemies and eliminate evil forces. It is done as a ghost busting homa as well. If one is worried about some inimical activities of enemies Sudrsana Homam is the best solution to nullify the evil effects. Vaishnavites don’t do Saivite Homas and so they do Sudarsana Homa.
Sudarsana is the wheel in the right hand of Vishnu. It has eliminated many of his and Krishna’ enemies. Hindus, and not Australian aborigines, invented boomerang. If Sudarsana wheel is thrown in a particular angle it will finish the intended action and comes back to the thrower. Mythology lists a long list of victories that obtained through Sudarsana wheel. In all the Tamil Vaishnavite tempes there is a shrine for Sudarsana Chakra/wheel. In Tamil it appears as a man amidst wheel and it is called Chakra (th) Alvar.

How to do it ?
We need priests who know the Vedic rituals to do it. It contains all the preliminaries of erecting a fire pit and Sankalpa (purpose).
There are special Sudarsana mantras to be used in the homa. Varuna is invoked in the water filled metal pots.
Then Sudarsana is worshipped with the Dhyaana Mantra. Pancha Puja (Chandan, Pushpa/flowers, Doopa, Deepa, Naivedyam) offering is done.
Main Homa
With rice and ghee, with Sweet Pongal, with Naayuruvi Samiththu (Plant Achyranthes aspera)336 times or 1008 times offerings are placed in the fire. During this Sudarsana mantras are used.
Priests recite Purusha suktam, Vishnu Suktam and Narayanasuktam from the Vedas.
Final offering (Purnaahuti) is done with the relevant mantras.
This Homa is done in the houses as well as in the temples.
Vaishnavite priests are very familiar with the rituals.
