PLEASE READ THE ATTRIBUTES THE HINDU SEERS GIVE TO SOMA PLANT AND THE BENEFITS THEY TALK ABOUT IN THER MANTARS IN THE RIGVEDA. THEN YOU CAN EASILY DECIDE WHAT IT IS.
IT IS A SHAME THAT WE DON’T HAVE IT TODAY. SOME HALF BAKED OR FULLY BAKED IDIOTS IDENTIFIED WITH X PLANT OR Y PLANT. HAD THEY REALLY KNOW THE PLANT THEY WOULD HAVE MADE BILLIONS OF DOLLLRS EVERY DAY BY CANNING AND SELLING IT.
I EVEN HAVE A SUSPICION THAT IT IS EQUAL TO AMRITA BECAUSE EAGLE-AMRITA STORY IN LAATER PURANAS IS IN THE RIG VEDA AS FALCON BRINGING IT FROM THE SKY OR MOUNTAIN.
FALACON, EAGLE AND HAWK ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE SOMA PLANT IN 20 TO 30 MANTRAS.
All he quoted Mantras are from the ninth mandala of the Rig Veda. This Mandala has 114 hymns with 1108 Mantras.

Here is what the seers say about the Soma Juice:– RV.9-97
You are a mighty SAGE
You are watchful
You are far seeing
You are wearing battle ready raiment.
Let us sing praises to gods loudly and send soma for mighty riches
He has come for our great bliss
You are nobler than the noblest
A prince among us
You preserve us evermore with blessings
Come here with the gods for bounty
You are roaring like a BOAR
The SWANS brought their restless spirit to our dwellings
Friends come and sing in concert praising Soma
Soma appears silvery in night and golden in day light.
Soma has sharp horns and brings forth abundance
Soma bathed in milk excites Indra and make him joyful; Indra slays the demons.
As soma is purified, he pours out treasurers
Soma is GOD and he sprinkles on other gods
Soma / Indu has wearing qualities by seasons
Soma , the RED BULL bellowing to the cattle advances, causing the heaven and earth to roar and thunder
Soma is sweet, meath rich plant
You send us good paths ; show us good path
Pour on us rain from the sky
Let it be healthy
Send us breeze
You are a friend of human beings
Unties me from the knots of sin.
Flow on with thousand streams and give us strength to conquer heroes
Soma flows like unyoked horses
May soma grant us riches sought with longing
Soma gives riches to generous people
Soma is very wise
He who beholds man kind
King supreme of deities and mortals
Treasure lord of riches
Soma is like a speedy HORSE
Give us ample food thousandfold
After you are purified, find out riches
Give us children who will be heroes and give us houses.
Rich in all boons, the best of cheerers
Make heaven and earth well established
You are swifter than thought
You are a LION
Sprung from the gods
You are forerunner of abundant riches
A wise king will not treat his friend unkindly
Like a son following his father’s wishes, grant to this family success and safety.
I have covered only 30 mantras out of 58 in this one hymn (RV 9-97).
