==============

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
*******
83.தோன்றிய கூனியும், துடிக்கும் நெஞ்சினாள்;
ஊன்றிய வெகுளியாள்; உளைக்கும் உள்ளத்தாள்;
கான்று எரி நயனத்தாள்; கதிக்கும் சொல்லினாள்;
அவ்வாறு வெளியில் வந்த கூனியும்; (நகர் அணிசெயப் பெறுவருகண்டு ஆத்திரம் அடைந்து) கோபத்தால் துடிக்கின்ற மனமுடையவளாய்;
கோபம் உடையவனாய்; வேதனைப்படும் மனம் உடையவளாய்;
உரை திறம்பாதோர்;
மனு முதல் மரபை;
முறைமையைக் கொண்ட அரசகுலத்து உரிமையைஉடைய;
அயோத்தியின் அரச பரம்பரையை, குற்றம் பொருந்தும்படி;
MY DEAR MANTHRAA? WHAT’S UR IDEAA , PLEASE?
திரிதரச் செய்தி,ஒன்றினால்;
ஒருவழிப்படும் உன் மகற்கு;
அவ்விரண்டு வரங்களுள்; ஒன்றினால் அரசாட்சியை உன் மகனதாக ஆக்கிக்கொண்டு; மற்றொன்றினால்;இராமன் -;
வெள்ள நெடுஞ் சுடர் மின்னின் மின்ன நக்கான்;
‘உள்ளம் உவந்துள செய்வென்;ஒன்றும் லோபேன்;
மொழிகின்றான்;

Adi Sankara, Avvaiyar agree with Valluvar; Tirukkural Encyclopaedia -Chapter 46- Avoiding Mean company –
***
Associating with good people or bad people and the effects of it on a man is a topic dealt with in Sanskrit and Tamil didactic works and Subhashitas.
Kural couplets 441 and 442:
Greatest philosopher of India, Adi Shankara, says, “ Satsangatve nissangatvam Nissangatve nirmohatvam Nirmohatve nischalatattvam Nischalatattve jeevanmuktih” –Bhajagovindam (9)
“Through the company of the good, there arises non-attachment; through non-attachment there arises freedom from delusion; through freedom from delusion there arises steadfastness; through steadfastness, there arises liberation in life”- Bhajagovindam
Tamil poetess Avvaiyar, who lived several centuries ago, says
“Sweet is solitude; sweeter is to meditate upon god. Sweeter still is the company of wise people (saints); and the sweetest is to think about the great people always, whether you are wide awake or sleeping. (i.e.to follow them is the sweetest thing in the world)”
In another verse in ‘Vaakkundaam’, she reemphasizes this point,
“It is good to see good people; good to listen to them, it is better to talk about their virtues and the best is to go along with them”.
It is in Bhatruhari’s Niti Sataka as well.
***
Mano, Vaak, Kaayam =Thought, Word and Deed must be pure is insisted in Hindu scriptures. Those who have this virtue will be worshipped as a great saint. Even a common man with this quality will command great respect. This is found only in Hindu scriptures. Here in this chapter, Valluvar also emphasize it..
***
Kural 459 says that You become What You Think. The benefit goes up to one’s next birth!

Tami’s greatest contribution to the world is Tiruk Kural authored by Tiru Valluvar.
What is Kural and Who called it Tamil Veda?
Kural is a genre of Tamil verse with two lines. Tiru means Sri or Holy.
Tamil Veda is the word used by one of the oldest poets who praised Tiruk Kural. Even H A Popley named his Tirukkural book as Tamil Veda in 1931. Tirukkural has an appendix called Tiru Valluva Malai where we find this word Tamil Marai= Tamil Veda.
Though the oldest Tamil book Tolkaappiam named Vedic Gods Indra and Varuna as important Tamil Gods, though the 2000 year old Tamil Sangam Books, 18 in number, praised Hindu Gods in hundreds of poems, a gang who called themselves Dravidians tried to show Tamils as Anti God group. But Tirukkural, the greatest Hindu book in Tamil, gives the gist of Hinduism . The book has 1330 couplets, divided into 133 chapters (Adikarams) has three parts called Dharma Artha and Kaama, in Tamil Aram Porul, Inbam. The original name of the book itself is Muppal= Three Divisions=Dharma Artha Kaama.
One gang of Tamil fanatics dated it BCE just to counter Christian propaganda who tried to project him as a person influenced by Christian thoughts. But’s Tamils’ own classification put it in Post Sangam books called 18 minor works. Internal evidence, style diction and use of Sanskrit words in over 500 couplets out of 1330 couplets placed it fifth century CE.
Let me give the couplets where Hindu Gods are praised and used as similes; in addition to them, we have translations of Manu, Mahabharata, Artha shastra, Kamasutra slokas in it. Even Dr Reverend G U Pope who translated it into English, referred to them without any hesitation.
1
Vamana Avatara
The king who is free from sloth shall gain all that has been measured by the feet of Lord Vishnu- Kural 610
(This is Singapore translation; EVS published the book Sayings of Tiruvalluvar.
The reference to the God who measured Earth in three feet is originally in the Rig Veda 1-22-17; 1-155-4

Indra
Indra, the king of the devas himself, will bear testimony to the will power of those who curbed the desires of the five senses- Kural 25
It is in Dhammapada 30 and Atharva Veda 11-5-19
If those of rigorous penance become enraged, even Indra will crash from power and position-Kural 899
This is the interpretation of the Kanchipuram Vishnu temple priest Parimel azakar, who is the most famous interpreter of Tirukkural.

3
Departed souls in South (Yama loka)
The paramount duty of a householder I to cherish daily the manes (who are in the South), the gods, his guests, his relations and himself- Kural 43

Though we have examples of Nachiketas in the Upanishads and Savitri in the Mahabharata, one of the ancient commentators referred to Markandeya as an example.
(Out of the Ten Ancient Commentaries on Tirukkural, we have only five available now and one of them referred to Markandeya)

Echo of Vedic Thought; Tirukkural Encyclopaedia -Chapter 45-Help of the Great-பெரியாரைத் துணைக்கோடல்
Points to Ponder:
Kural 443, 444 echo Vedic advice for kings:
A king who lacks the guidance of a wise spiritual and political advisor—such as a Purohita is viewed as incomplete, vulnerable, and cut off from cosmic order.
The Upholder of Sacred Law (Dharma): The Satapatha Brahmana (Kanda V, adhyaya 4, brahmana 4) notes that the king alone is not capable of all speech and all deeds. Both the king and the Śrotriya (the wise Brahmin learned in sacred texts) share the duty of upholding what is right
Without a Purohita leaves his realm unprotected—much like an elephant in battle without a driver or a kingdom lacking a surrounding defence.
if a king is not guided by wise, the number of his enemies increase-Satapata Brahmana 5-4-4-15 (850 BCE)
***
Kural 447 and 448 follow Dhammapada style; In Dhamma pada , Buddha says something in negative and then in positive; each advice will be in two slokas in Dhammapada; Tiruvalluvar also followed that style in many of his couplets
