பெண்களுக்கும் சொத்து உரிமை உண்டு; மநு நீதி நூல் – பகுதி 43
இதுவரை 8 அத்தியாயங்களை முடித்து 9-ம் அத்தியாயத்தில் 54 ஸ்லோகம் வரை கண்டோம். மநு நீதி நூல் –43 ம் பகுதியில் மேலும் சில முக்கிய விஷயங்களை முதலில் புல்லட் (BULLET POINTS) பாயிண்டுகளில் தருகிறேன். பகுதி-42 ஜூலை 19–ம் தேதி இந்த பிளாக்கில் பதிவிடப்பட்டது
ஸ்லோகம் 9-54ல் சொல்கிறார்– வெள்ளத்தில் அடித்துச் செல்லப்படும் விதை எந்த நிலத்தில் தங்கி விளைகிறதொ அந்த நிலச் சொந்தக்காரருக்கே அந்த மரமோ செடியோ சொந்தம் ஆகும். அதே போல ஒரு பெண் யார் மூலமாகக் கர்ப்பம் அடைந்தாலும் அந்தக் குழந்தை அவளுக்கே சொந்தம். இதை மிருகங்களின் வாழ்க்கையில் கூடக் காண்கிறோம் (ஸ்லோகம் 9-56)
மஹாபாரதத்தில் விசித்ரியவீர்யனுக்குக்கு குழந்தைகள் பிறக்கவில்லை. அவன் இறந்தபின்னர் அம்பா, அம்பாலிகா மூலம் வேறு ஒரு ஆண்மகன் மூலம் குழந்தைகள் பெறப்பட்டன. செக்ஸ் திருப்திக்காக இல்லாதபடி, வம்ச வ்ருத்திக்கு மட்டும் பயன்படும் இம்முறை மஹபாரத காலத்தில் இருந்தது. இதற்கு ‘நியோகம்’ என்று பெயர். இது பற்றி மநு நீதி நூலில் எதிரும் புதிருமான கருத்துக்கள் உள்ளன. 9-64 முதல் முரண்பாடான கருத்துகள் உள. அதாவது மநு, நியோக முறையையும், விதவை மறுமணத்தையும் எதிர்க்கிறார்.
9-65க்கு வியாக்கியானம் எழுதிய ஒருவர் ரிக்வேதம் 10-40-2ல் இம்முறை வருகிறது என்கிறார். 9-66ல் இவை எல்லாம் வேனன் என்ற கொடுங்கோல் மன்னன் காலத்தில் வந்த மிருக நீதிகள் என்று மநு பழிக்கிறார். வேனனை ரிஷிகள் கடைந்து —PARTHOGENIC METHODS — செயற்கை முறை கர்ப்பம்- திசுக்கள் மூலம் TISSUE CULTURE ஆண் உடலில் இருந்து குழந்தை உருவாக்கும் அதி நவீன முறை –CLONING TECHNIQUES — மூலம் பிருது உண்டாக்கப்பட்டான் என்று புராணங்கள் பகரும். இதனால்தான் பூமியை ‘பிருதுவி’ என்று அழைக்கிறோம். அவன் உத்தமோத்தமன்; ஸத்தியவான்)
(இங்கே என் கருத்துக்கு மேலும் ஒரு ஆதாரம் கிடைக்கிறது. வேனன், சுமுகன் போன்ற பழங்கால மன்னர்களை மட்டுமே மநு குறிக்கிறார். ராமன் கிருஷ்ணன் பற்றிக் கதைப்பது இல்லை. இவர் மிகவும் பழங்காலத்தவர். பாபிலோனிய ஹமுராபிக்கும் முந்தையவர்- உலகின் முதல் சட்ட நிபுணர்- உலகின் முதல் சட்ட நூல் மனு ஸ்ம்ருதிதா ன் – என்ற எனது வாதம் மேலும் வலுப்பெறுகிறது. வேறு சில முக்கிய ஆதாரங்களை முன்னமே காட்டிவிட்டேன்)
9-74 ல் மிக முக்கியமான உளவியல் விஷயத்தைச் செப்புகிறார். ஒருவன் திரைகடல் ஓடித் திரவியம் தேட நீண்ட காலம் மனைவியைப் பிரிந்து சென்றால் அவளது வாழ்க்கைக்கு வழி செய்துவிட்டுப் போக வேண்டும் அல்லது அவள் வேறு ஒருவனுடன் ஓடிப்போய் விடுவாள் என்கிறார்.

ஸ்லோகம் 9-80 முதல் சுவையான செய்திகள் உள. சோரம் போகும் பெண்களை விலக்கலாம், எட்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மலடியாக உள்ளவளை விலக்கலாம். பெண் குழந்தைகளை மட்டுமே பெற்றால், அவளைப் புறக்கணித்து வேறு ஒருவருடன் வாழலாம் என்பன 9-85 வரை உள்ளன.
குடிகாரிக்கு 6 தங்க குந்துமணி அபராதம் போடு என்ற வாசகம் அந்தக் காலத்தில் நாணய முறை இருந்ததைக் காட்டும் (9-84)

ஒரு சினிமா பாட்டு கேட்டு இருப்பீர்கள்; அது மநு சொன்ன வாசகம்.
ஸ்லோகம் 9-95ல் சொல்கிறார்- கடவுள் கொடுத்த பரிசுதான் மனைவி. ஆகையால் குணமுள்ள பெண்களைப் போற்றிக் காப்பாற்றினால் இறைவன் அருள் மழை பொழிவான்.
(இதுவரை எவ்வளவோ நூல்கள் படித்து விட்டேன். மநு போல பெண்களுக்கு ஆதரவாகக் கதைத்தவர் எவரும் இலர். பெண்கள் நோய்வாய்ப்பட்டிருந்தால், அவர்களுக்குக் குழந்தையே இல்லாவிடினும், அவர் அனுமதியின்றி வெளியேற முடியாது என்கிறார். பெண்களை அழவிட்டால், குடும்பம் வேறோடு சாய்ந்து அழியும் என்கிறார். சகோதரிகளுக்கு சகோதரர்கள் ஆடை ஆபரணங்களை அளித்து கமகிழ்ச்சிக் டலில் மிதக்க விட வேண்டும் என்கிறார்.
இந்த ஒன்பதாம் அத்தியாயத்தில் பெண்களுக்கு சொத்து உரிமை உண்டு என்கிறார். இத்தனையும் 3000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் எழுதியது.

Brahmins and
any other communities in India follow Gotra (clan) rules strictly. They
consider the people brothers and sisters if they are born in the same Gotra. Primarily
there were seven Gotras which multiplied in course of time to hundreds. A 100
year old book compare this to the rules in other countries. Brahmins don’t marry
in the same Gotra.

Senart’s
theory
After examining
the views propounded by three people including me Senart points out the close
correspondence that exists between the three series of groups in Rome – gens,
curia, tribes; family groups in Greece; and he family gotra and caste in India.
Pursuing the subject into fuller detail, he seeks to show from the records of
classical antiquity that
in the
department of marriage, roman gens and an Athenian group present striking
resemblance to the Indian gotra.
We learn from
Plutarch, that the romans never married a woman of their own kin, and among the
matrons who figure in classical literature, none bears the same gentile name as
her husband . nor was endogamy unknown.
At Athens in
the time of Demosthenes. membership of a group was confined to the offspring of
that particular group.
In Rome the
long struggle of plebeians to obtain the jus connubii with patrician women
belongs to the same class of facts; an the patricians, according to Senart,
were guarding the endogamous rights of their order—
If they
marry a woman from humbler origins or foreigners he children were traded as low
class people. In Rome if low class people are present in the sacrifice of gens,
they are offended. In Rome the woman was transferred to the group of her
husband . brahmin women also get the gotra of her husband leaving her own
gotra.
In food also
they refused to take food cooked by other groups they were not allowed to eat with
the members of other lower group. In Rome ,as in India, daily libations were
offered to ancestors and the funeral feasts of Greeks and romans correspond to Hindu
sraddha
The expulsion
rites were also similar in Rome and India. Roman interdict aqua et igni
corresponds to the ancient Indian ritual for expulsion from caste. A slave
filled the water of an offender’s vessel and solemnly pours it on the ground.

Rufus the hawk will stop other
birds nesting at the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture, London Aquatics Centre and Copper Box Arena when he flies
there once a fortnight.
The Harris Hawk, who has
10,000 followers on Twitter, will intimidate pigeons, crows and seagulls with
his four-foot wingspan and sharp talons.
Mark Camley, executive director of operations and venues at London
Legacy Development Corporation, which runs the park, said: “We use hawks to
help control vermin and prevent birds like pigeons and seagulls from roosting
on buildings and causing unsightly and costly mess and damage.
“It’s well worth coming over to the park to watch this amazing creature soar above our amazing venues and parkland.”

Infestation of
false widow spiders forces London school to close
London secondary school has been forced to shut its doors
because of an infestation of the UK’s most venomous spider.
Michaela Community School in Wembley, which is rated “outstanding” by Ofsted, was closed to pupils for three days after the
discovery of the false widows.
The free school reopened last Wednesday after pest control was
called in to tackle the infestation. But the decision was taken to close again
yesterday to “be certain that all have been entirely eradicated”.
Seven schools
Seven schools in east London were forced
to close last year when the spiders, which are about the size of a 50p coin,
spread into classrooms. They are the most dangerous species in the UK and their
bites, though not life-threatening, can cause painful swelling.
Michaela Community School, near Wembley Stadium, opened in 2014
and has become known for its strict discipline policy, in which students can be
given detentions for talking in the corridor or forgetting a pen or pencil.
Headteacher Katharine Birbalsingh rose to prominence when, as a south London
deputy head, she criticised school behaviour policies in a speech to the
Conservative Party conference in 2010.
A mother with two children at the school said they were frightened by the infestation. She said: “They sent an email saying they need to close the school and spray everything because if the spiders bite the children it is very dangerous. I hope it’s all been done, I am scared sometimes.”

தொண்டைமான் வரலாறு!

கொங்கு மண்டலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த தென்கரை நாட்டில் மூவனூர்
என்று ஒரு ஊர் உள்ளது.அங்கு தொண்டைமான் என்ற விருது பெற்ற கீர்த்திமான் ஒருவர் வாழ்ந்து
வந்ததாக வரலாறு கூறுகிறது.
அவரை ‘வளர்கடாவைக் காதறுத்த பஹதூர் தொண்டைமான்’ என்று கூறிப் புகழ்ந்தும் தெரிய வருகிறது!
ஒரு சமயம் சங்ககிரி துர்க்கத்தில் நவாபைப் பார்க்கப்
பலரும் காத்திருந்தனர்.
பல நாட்கள் கழிந்தன. நவாபைக் காணும் வழியே இல்லை.
அங்கு அரசகுமாரன் வளர்த்து வந்த அருமையான செம்மறிக்
கடா ஒன்று இருந்தது.
அதைப் பிடித்து அதன் இரு காதுகளையும் அறுத்து விட்டான்
காத்திருந்த ஒருவன்.
அவனைப் பிடித்து நவாபின் முன் நிறுத்தினர்.
நவாபிடம் அவன், “ஐயா! தங்களைப் பார்க்க பல நாட்கள்
காத்திருந்தேன். ஆனால் காண முடியவில்லை. இப்படிச் செய்தாலாவது தங்களைக் காணும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும்; குறைகளைச் சொல்லலாம்
என்று இப்படிப்பட்ட செயலைச் செய்து விட்டேன்” என்றான்.
நவாப் அவனது தைரியமான யோசனையையும்
செய்கையையும் கண்டு வியந்தார்.
‘வளர்கடாவைக் காதறுத்த பஹதூர்
தொண்டைமான்’ என்று அவனைக்
கூப்பிட்டார்.
அன்று முதல் அவனுக்கு அந்தப்
பெயர் வந்தது. ஆனால் அவனது இயற்பெயர் யாருக்கும் தெரியவில்லை. அவனது சந்ததியார் மூலனூர்
வட்டத்தில் இன்னும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
இதே போல கொங்கு மண்டலத்தைச்
சேர்ந்த கீழ்ப்பூந்துறை நாட்டில் இருந்த உபநாடுகளில் ஒன்றான பருத்தியபள்ளி நாட்டில்
ஒரு வாலிபன் தொண்டைமான் என்னும் அரசன் சேனையில் சேர்ந்தான். பகைவன் மேல் போரெடுத்துச்
சென்றான். வெற்றியும் பெற்றான்.
அந்தத் தொண்டைமான் அரசன் அவனுக்குத்
தன் பெயரையும் மாலையையும் விருதாக அளித்தான்.
அதனால் அன்று முதல் அவன் தொண்டைமான் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டான்.
மல்லசமுத்திரத்தில் ஸ்ரீ சோழீசர் ஆலயத்துக்கு உரியவர்களாக அவனது சந்ததியார் இருந்து வருகின்றனர்.
அவர்கள் நவாபிடம் பெரும் அதிகாரமும் செல்வாக்கும் பெற்றிருந்தனர்.
அவர்களுக்குரிய இடங்களுக்குப் போகும்போது ஒரு வெண்கலத்
துடும்பு (ஒரு வகையான பறை) ஒருவன் இவர்கள் முன்னே அடித்துச் செல்வான். அது நவாப் கொடுத்தது
என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது.
தொண்டைமான் என்ற பெயரையும் அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து வைத்துக்
கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

விருதாக செம்பியனால் கொடுக்கப் பெற்றவன் வாழ்கின்றதும் கொங்கு மண்டலம் என்பதாம்.

actually presented to the President, always exchanges with him the text
of the speeches.
On one such occasion this formality never reached its
ordinary climax. Instead of stiltedly repeating the already familiar words,
President Roosevelt greeted the foreign diplomat with,
Now, Mr Minister, I have read your remarks and you have read
mine, so suppose we dispense with the speeches and have a friendly chat.

Toast in Water
After the Russo Japanese War, Admiral Togo, commander of the victorious Japanese fleet, visited the United States and was cordially received. A state dinner was tendered him at which it fell to the lot of William Jennings Fryan, then Secretary of State to propose a toast to Togo. Bryan, a staunch prohibitionist, would not touch champagne , and it was feared that some diplomatic impasse may arise from the difficulty.
Bryan, however, rose at the proper time, picked up his glass
of water and said,
Admiral Togo has won a great victory on water, therefore I
will toast him in water. When Admiral Togo wins a victory on champagne, I will
toast him in champagne.

When Lady Baldwin of Bewdley visited Manhattan with her
husband, Stanley Baldwin, last summer, she wanted to see the General Motors
Futurama at New York Worlds Fair, but did not want to stand in line. So Earl
Baldwin phoned the British consulate; the consulate called the British embassy
in Washington; the embassy cabled the Foreign Office in London. The foreign
office appealed to ambassador Joe Kennedy . Resourceful Joe sent a cable direct
to General Motors Building at the Fair. A press agent there called lady Baldwin
at the Waldorf (cost 5 cents) , told her to come right out, he would see that
she was well taken care of .

I will cut off
heads of all Frenchmen!
Henry VIII, in a spell of temper against his rival Francis I,
King of France, commissioned a clergy man named Bonner to deliver an insolent
and threatening message to the French court. The clergyman realised that it
would be a risky job and protested that he could never hope to get back to
England alive if he dared to talk to the French king in the manner Henry wished.
Don’t worry about that, said the monarch soothingly. If the
King of France puts you to death, I will cut off the heads of all Frenchmen I
can get my hands on.
That may be, Your Majesty, replied Bonner, tapping his head,
but of all the heads in England, there is none that fits my shoulders as well
as this one does.
