இஸ்லாமிய ஆக்கிரமிப்பாளர்களை விரட்டி அடித்த மன்னர்கள்!

பாரத தேசத்தின் சரித்திரத்தை சரியானபடி மாணவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லித் தர முடியாதபடி பாட புத்தகங்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது மிகவும் வருத்தற்திற்குரிய ஒரு விஷயம்!

சுதந்திரம் பெற்று 71 வருடங்கள் ஆகியும் கூட இந்த நிலை நீடிக்கிறது.

பாபர், அக்பர், ஷாஜஹான், ஔரங்கசீப்புக்கு இடம் உண்டு, ஆனால் ஆக்கிரமிப்பாளர்களை விரட்டி அடித்த பாரத தேச மன்னர்களைப் பற்றி ஒருவருக்கும் தெரியாது.

ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் ஹிந்து மன்னர்கள்!

இந்த நிலை நீடிக்கக் கூடாது எனில் நம் தேச மக்கள் அதற்குரிய புத்தகங்களை வெளியிட வேண்டும்; தங்கள் மகன், மகள் உள்ளிட்ட அனைவரையும் அதைப் படிக்கச் செய்ய வேண்டும்.

இந்த நீண்ட வரலாற்றில் ஆயிரக் கணக்கான  மெய் சிலிர்க்கும் சம்பவங்கள் உள்ளன.

அவற்றில் சில:-

லலிதாதித்ய முக்தபீடன் காஷ்மீரை ஆண்ட மாமன்னன். சிந்தின் அராபிய கவர்னரான ஜுனாய்ட் காஷ்மீரைத் தக்கினான். காலிப் ஹிஷாம் உத்தரவின் பேரில் இந்தத் தாக்குதல் எட்டாம் நூற்றாண்டில் நிகழ்ந்தது.

லலிதாதித்யன், காஷ்மீர் அரசன் ஜூனாய்டைத் தோற்கடித்தான். காஷ்மீரைக் கைப்பற்ற நினைத்த அராபிய முயற்சி படுதோல்வியை அடைந்தது.

லலிதாதித்யா தீவிரவாதிகளைத் தாக்கி ஒழித்து துருக்கியரையும் அடக்கினான்

ராஜா சம்க்ராமராஜா காஷ்மீரை 11ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் ஆண்ட மாமன்னன். முகமது கஜினியின் தாக்குதல்களைப் பல முறை முறியடித்தவன் இவன்.

காபூலை ஆண்ட ஹிந்து மன்னனான திரிலோசனபாலனுக்கும் இவன் உதவி செய்து கஜினியின் கொட்டத்தை அடக்கினான்.

இரு மன்னர்களது சேனை சுல்தான் முகமதைத் தோற்கடித்தது.

எட்டாம் நூற்றாண்டின் மத்தியில் உஜ்ஜயினி நகரை அராபியர்கள் தாக்கிய போது ஹிந்து மன்னர்கள் இணைந்தனர். இது மாபெரும் கூட்டணியாக அமைந்தது.

அராபிய தளகர்த்தன் எமிர் ஜுனாய்ட் அராபிய சேனைக்குத் தலைமை தாங்கி வர, அவனை எதிர் கொண்டது கூர்ஜரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த மன்னன் முதலாம் நக்பாட் தலைமையில் அமைந்த சேனை.

கூர்ஜர ப்ரதிஹார், சாளுக்கியர்கள், ராஷ்டிரகூடர்கள், குஹில் உள்ளிட்டவர்களைக் கொண்டதாக அமைந்திருந்தது இந்த சேனை.

 தொடர் போர்கள் பல ஹிந்துக்களுக்கும் இஸ்லாமியர்களுக்கும் இடையே தொடர்ந்து நடந்தன. கி.பி. 783ஆம் ஆண்டில் ராஜஸ்தான் எல்லையில் இறுதிப் போர் நடைபெற்றது. அதில் அராபியர்கள் படு தோல்வி அடைந்தனர்.

இதன் பின்னர் கனவில் கூட பாரதத்தைத் தாக்க வேண்டுமென்ற எண்ணம் அராபியர்களுக்கு நூறு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஏற்படவில்லை.

இப்படி ஏராளமான சரித்திரங்கள் உள்ளன.

இதை ஏன் பள்ளிப் பாடத் திட்டத்தில் சேர்க்க மறுக்கிறார்கள் என்பது தான் புரியவில்லை.

பாபர் ஹிந்து மன்னர்களைத் தோற்கடித்தது தவறாமல் போதிக்கப்படும் போது இந்த அராபியர்களைத் துரத்திய ஹிந்து சரித்திரம் மட்டும் மறுக்கப் படுவது ஏன்?

எல்லோரும் சிந்திக்க வேண்டும்!

ஆங்கில மூலத்தை இங்கே காணலாம்:

Lalitaditya Muktapida was the ruler of Kashmir when Junaid, the Arab governor of Sindh, attacked Kashmir following the orders of Caliph Hisham in the 8^th century. The Kashmir king defeated Junaid and thus the Arab attempt of plundering Kashmir failed. Lalitaditya Muktapida also subjugated the Turks by attacking their territories.

Raja Samgramaraja of Kashmir in the 11^th century repulsed several attacks of Mahmud of Ghazni.

Plunderer Mahmud could never defeat the Kashmiri king! Besides, Raja Samgramaraja also helped Trilochanpala, the Hindu Sahi ruler of Kabul, with an army against Mahmud of Ghazni.

The combined army defeated Sultan Mahmud.

One of the biggest alliances of Indian rulers was witnessed when the Arabs attacked and ransacked cities up to Ujjain before the mid 8th century.

The battle was fought between the Arab forces led by Emir Junaid and an alliance of Indian dynasties led by Gurjar Pratihar king Nagbhat I. The Indian alliance comprised of Gurjar Pratihars, Chalukyas, Rashtrakuta, Guhil, etc. A series of battles was fought between Arabs and Hindus. The final battle was fought in 738 AD in the borders of Rajasthan. The Arabs faced a crushing defeat.

After this Muslim plunderers did not think of attacking India for several years, in fact, for more than a century!

The book under review 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die edited by Steven Jay Schneider gives you details of 1001 famous movies released between 1900 and 2016.

It is an elaborate work and a film lover’s dream.

It chronicles the entire history of cinema spread over hundred years.

Choosing 1001 films from thousands of films is itself a research work and this was done by the author in a fantastic way.

How these films are chosen? First, from various best films, top hundred films, top ten movies lists 1300 films were selected. After going through the list again and again it was cut short to 1001 movies.

The films list is given alphabetically at the beginning of the book.

For example if you choose Tom Tykwer’s Run Lola Run, a 1998 film, you will get all the details.

Run Lola Run is an interesting, unusual film making experiment that has humor, breathless excitement and tremendous energy all tightly packaged into an MTV generation movie by the fresh talent of its writer-director.

The film shows the twenty minute story of Lola in three different times each subtly different in a manner that delivers three different outcomes. A beautiful innovative film’s full details are given in a fitting manner.

Like this you may read about one thousand and one best films and start viewing one by one before your death.

The Genre index given at the end of the book covers 22 subjects namely Action, Adventure, Animation, Avant-Garde, Comedy, Crime, Docu-drama, Documentary, Drama, Experimental, Family, Fantasy, Horror, Musical, Mystery, Noir, Romance, Sci-fi, Short, Thriller, War and Western.

The directors index gives you details about 596 fqmous director including Cecil B. Demille, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg etc.

War films such The Bridge on the river Kwai (1957), The Great Escape (1963), Gone with the Wind (1939) needs to be specially mentioned here.

However we are not able to find the famous war films such The Guns of Navarone, Force Ten from Navarone etc.

Movies like The Italian Job are also not covered in this list.

Perhaps if we have to include all the films the title will become 10001 Movies you must see before you die!

Scientific Fiction films are also narrated elaborately.

The book is printed very neatly in art paper. Hundreds of illustration makes the reader very happy.

We may see and choose our favorite stars, Directors and we could make our own list based on our interest.

More than hundred years, the film field in one of the most entertaining one and we can’t imagine a world without movies now.

So we have to congratulate the General Editor Steven Jay Schneider for his painstaking work. He is a film critic, Scholar, and producer. He has written many books on the Cinematic arts.
